how do people make songs that are like 2 minutes in length. i struggle to be under 6
@sean_ae@post.lurk.org @slyka@pawb.fun should repurpose one of these
the new tractive cat tracker is disappointing;
- seemingly no wifi support, so power saving zones don't work, hence battery life is worse (even though it's advertised as better)
- the integrated collar blows! the weight setting keeps changing every time i take it off the cats, and sometimes when i put it on.
- gps performance is noticeably worse (previous one would report even when inside the house, this one doesn't)
- LED lights aren't visible at daylight so it's impossible to see when it's charging properly
- the charger is easy to knock about so that it doesn't hit the charging spots anymore because the cord is sticking upwards like 10cm on the desk
new album: "honest", with @naima@meow.social on sax

i completely missed the dishonored games earlier for some reason and have been enjoying them lately, went through 1 and sniffing around 2 now. really good though a bit easy feeling even on the hardest difficulty
and they run great on linux too
think i'll get back to swimming on the regular, went for the first time in years today and it wasn't so bad. thought i could maybe do 20-30 min max but went for a full hour. plus the place here has a finnish style sauna, so that's nice

if you add the braids oscillator to a project you are required to call it the broscillator
had a nap with a dream about some ordering terminal outside a mcdonalds that had an sd-card reader, a lenticular printer and an ATM, and it could be hacked by entering a really big float number via the keypad which I did, and it started pooping out lots of money and cat pictures

@niconiconi@mk.absturztau.be this is a 20-year old paper that predates EBU R 128 and true-peak limiters which are used all over today. in practice this is a non-issue these days. just because something goes full scale doesn't necessarily mean the intersample peaks go above 0dBFS, so simplifying it as "close to clipping" isn't correct. the peaks are program dependent, so using a true-peak limiter solves this issue. since this paper came out, production has moved into talking about LUFS units instead which makes it much easier to talk about loudness and what is advisable in terms of numbers.
