mastodon 4.7.3Hi there! I enjoy art, poetry, little bits of creativity, unbridled expression, fancy tea, and Star Trek.
I spend my time between #Inishowen (in #Donegal) and Dublin and enjoy both very much. I build apps and websites at work.
Currently, I’m mostly interested in #Buddhism, which I’m studying as a 'GFR' Mitra (friend) of the #Triratna Buddhist Community in Dublin.
Some labels I usually am: #Buddhist. #Left. #Gay / #Bi. He/him. Cisgender. #introvert.
I remain unconvinced about these "smart" light bulbs and the like. I've been giving it a go recently and bought a few of the Philips Hue bulbs and a 'bridge' controller.
Fiddly as hell to do anything with at the best of times, I think a old-school dimmer switch a nice lampshade would do what I want with much less of the hassle.
And now I'm having some trouble with the home wifi, they become impossible to control and a hassle to even turn on!
Not sure I'll be bothered with this for much longer
For What Binds Us
By Jane Hirshfield
There are names for what binds us:
strong forces, weak forces.
Look around, you can see them:
the skin that forms in a half-empty cup,
nails rusting into the places they join,
joints dovetailed on their own weight.
The way things stay so solidly
wherever they've been set down—
and gravity, scientists say, is weak.

Someone asked me yesterday if I'd seen the film "Michael" and I've only just realised that they weren't talking about the 1996 John Travolta movie.
What's the word for that twinge of discomfort you get when reaching for your Monday morning podcasts to ease you into the week only to realise it's Tuesday and you've already listened to them all on yesterday's lazy bank holiday.
