also, the desire I've had for some time to see a #rustlang impl of the parts of git in widespread use exist and get significant traction is only increasing. It would prevent classes of security vulnerabilities, and also likely make the Windows install & support situation significantly easier (maybe just expect people who need git hooks to also install msys2). https://github.blog/2023-01-17-git-security-vulnerabilities-announced-2/
I sometimes wish Microsoft would have invested in building Edge on Firefox instead of Chromium when they decided to stop making their own engine. Investment in upstream improvements would help FF, and having each major platform vendor backing a different engine would definitely help preserve diversity.
rant: it's kinda annoying how products go from "simple tool that does the job pretty well" to "Could Thing that has a million features I don't need and may not keep supporting the ones I do".
Current status: looking for a replacement for minio. I don't need a kubernetes cluster or backend store, or to re-implement RAID in userspace. I have a folder. I want exposed via S3.

@noleli@mastodon.social the answer used to be ‘run minio’ 😭. I’ve now found an unmaintained Rust S3 server that doesn’t work, CloudServer that I also couldn’t get working, and a couple others whose getting started guides talk about clouds and distribution.
For now, going to just figure out how to migrate my data from my perfectly functional file system into Minio’s single-node store 🙃.
