One of those weekends folks. Four assignments due on a monday. I knocked three and a half of them out yesterday, but last big programming one is due at 11PM and I come up against Djikstra's, my old nemesis. I swear I've had this explained to me like several times, and I kinda get it, but then it comes time to actually write it as C++ code and then it's just a non starter, and the theory is weirdly far removed from the practical implementation. Ah well, that's for after coffee and maybe a nap.
You'll probably figure out how I know this, but here's a tip; when making a cosplay mask, you can build a cardboard dome for the top. You can build the dome by making a hoop around the widest part of your head. For most people, if the hoop fits around their forehead, it should be fine.

It's only when you need to look up stuff about motorcycles when you find out what an SEO nightmare the overlap between motorcycle and bicycle terms are. And it's on things that are kinda crazy, there are approximately 0% of cyclists who use saddlebags but searching up "bike saddlebags" will not take you to motorcycle saddlebags. You know, without Web3 NFT bullshit, there was a lost era of decentralized gaming back when it wasn't cost effective to have massive servers for users. Old games which used the host/join system. Hell, just games where one client in a LAN also acted as the server computer. I get it, it's just easier to run all your online interactions through Nintendo, but like... Those old games can still go online, whereas everything else just died. That's sad and we should make that a consideration again.

A Knight Of Seven Kingdoms is universally beloved, is a Game Of Thrones spinoff and is a quick easy watch and not even that managed to get much traction. The biggest splash it made was very online imdb score drama. Potter might make bigger headlines, but nothing is like as big as Lost was where everyone you knew was watching it and it was watercooler talk. So I take solace in that. Might be copium on my part but yeah, I do actually think even if the show is successful it won't be that big. Kinda like both the Dune and LOTR shows.

Current issue: I'm moving from Castbox to AntennaPod. The cons of Castbox are just too much; lots of ads, the recommendation algorithm is infested with Right Wing Influencers, Religious Evangelists, Techbro and CEO glazers, "self-help" that is just Ayn Rand repackaged for modern men, woo/psuedoscience peddlers and other such garbage. It's also got lots of ads, very annoying. Many reasons to change.
However, it's got two things going for it over AntennaPod; using your google account to synch subscriptions and a playlist feature. There's a set of goto episodes from Be Scared that I love falling asleep to, but in Antenna pod, I have to either scroll down, or favourite them and add them to a queue. No synch is annoying but I have now got parity between the apps, I'm subscribed to the same people. Lack of playlists is very annoying.

Heck, I only found out why it's called the C drive the other day, and considering we don't use floppies and stiffies anymore, most of us won't see an A or B drive in our computers again.

@aspeed@lgbtqia.space from what I understand it depends on the architecture, much easier to get Linux running on an x86 Chromebook than an ARM Chromebook. That was at least the state of things last time I checked, friend had an ARM Chromebook and after suffering for a bit we decided even if we did get it right the old emmc storage was so slow and unworkable that it wasn't worth it.
Nothing in this whole wide world feels as bad as struggling with a math problem only to go back and read the instructions that says all trig values are given in radians and then you look at your calculator and it is set to degrees.

Hate finding out weird idiosyncrasies of C++ at 3AM when I have an assignment due, like come on what do you mean standard library vectors, stacks and queues don't return the element you pop? Worst still, you can index into vectors and deques but you can't index into stacks and queues. To print the contents of a stack or queue you basically have to make a copy you print front then pop, so you can't even just print the element you just popped. Maddening stuff.

But you can follow people from other servers in the one you are, it's a bit annoying, you have to search their profile URL and follow them from the search results. But the functionality exists, so if there is someone on another server you want to follow, you can.

DLSS 5 has some people really tweaking, I saw a creator say that he preferred it on GTA V and that when he turned it off, it looked like a game from two generations ago.
GTA V *is* a game from two generations ago (also it looked bad with DLSS 5 on, it had that artificial feel when there's massive disparity between the resolution of the textures and the amount tri count of the model, if you've seen some 4K texture packs for Fallout 3 and New Vegas you know what I'm talking about)

Resident Evil 4 remake is R140 rn. I have tried a bunch of RE games, they haven't clicked with me yet. Champs and killers, last try. If I can't get into RE with REmake 4, then I'm going to just have to conclude that Resident Evil is not for me. That it is a series I prefer watching videos about rather than playing. Which is a shame because they all look good and run well on my PC, the community layouts for gyro aim are immaculate, Leon S Kennedy (the S stands for sexy) seems like a fun protagonist to be in the shoes of. This has gotta be the one, right?

I have run into so many clever design decisions, ad the accessibility options are so plentiful, and the animations are so charming, and you can set it to 1x perfect integer scale so snobs like me can't complain about inconsistent pixel size, and it's a top down Zelda style game with extremely tight and precise jump controls, not to mention the little improvements to the soulslike formula that are genre improvements FromSoft absolutely should steal... Like no, they were right, Mina really is that good. This is absolutely a GOTY contender.
I can't help but get the vibe that HBO's Lanterns is trying to court the same audience as this latest crop of boomerslop shows like Landman and Yellowstone, and I just don't think it's going to work. Everyone loved how comicbook Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner was but now we're too embarrassed to show Green Lantern a costume in the trailer. Let comicbook shit be comicbook shit.
I would love to see the stats on Prime Video memberships in the next few months now that The Boys ended. I imagine a lot of folks will nix their subscription until Invincible or Fallout comes back because what else is there, Beast Games? Maybe Reacher, but I don't think that's back either. Kinda feels like the only thing Amazon makes that people like are adaptations of works they've licensed.

@iska@catposter.club I've never programmed netcode for a game, someday I should give it a go, but I figure using proprietary tech relying on proprietary servers is probably easier? It's probably not as easy as psn.connect() in Unreal but it's probably easier than writing from scratch
That said, it definitely isn't a management priority at all and probably won't take that much more effort.
