@andrewnez Funny, I have a forge that does the exact opposite. Rather than putting everything in a database, I thought, "What if we had a forge without a database?" Everything is stored in Git (config, users, permissions, tickets, etc.). Of course, I don't use git-cli, but rather a library that allows me to mount the repository in memory. Implementing a storer for PG should be doable with it https://github.com/go-git/go-git in go like forgejo. To see what my forge looks like https://gitroot.dev

@andrewnez@mastodon.social True, but there are concomitant things that have been built and are profitable. I’m thinking about package registries/proxies. Also, SBOM generation is touching packages. Of course, that doesn’t cover all your concerns, but I think there is a way to merge all of that into a forge useful for maintainers.

@matdevdug i'm building this forge, not "some of that", exactly what you describe! Point 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 are done, others in progress. For 1 I envisaged local runner but your idea is cool. 7 is what I try to explain but without success. For 5 I made my forge with plugins. I added some constraints: no inscription, no database, customize web view. Visit https://gitroot.dev and follow @forge to know when you will be able to install it on your rasps.

@avernois@piaille.fr si tu es en recherche d'une forge alternative, je suis en train d'en dev une. C'est radicalement différent, pas de bdd, pas d'inscription et hyper personnalisable par plugin.
