@ljs@mastodonapp.uk actually it seems I've just been following the wrong hashtag all along https://community.hachyderm.io/docs/hachyderm/hashtags/#fediverse-reserved-hashtags says you've spelled it correctly

@Mae@is.badat.dev @ariadne@social.treehouse.systems There was no need to do it as long as xorg server was being maintained. I remember researching this a couple years ago when we (xmonad) started talking about what to do about Wayland, and yeah it seemed like it'd be easy but also fairly pointless at the time - you'd mainly just get a different compositor, but it'd still be X. (and yeah we definitely should have tried, but too many excuses not to; I envy people who still haven't completely burned out and still enjoy computers and have the energy and drive to spend their weekends doing cool stuff...)

@ptesarik also I've heard that in this setup docker container ports might be exposed to the internet despite whatever firewalld config because the two interact a bit weird better double check, or — I'd recommend this — switch to rootless docker/podman which doesn't touch iptables at all

@ptesarik oh actually more vaguely remembering time - there's iptables the original and iptables-via-nftables shim I have no idea which of these is better, but fairly certain the behaviour is different in surprising ways. (also libvirt does something similar but I think they support nftables already?)

@joel it's a bit scary that it's not just an ordinary plugin but it patches various internal bits of koreader (and thus it's fundamentally tied to the koreader version it was developed for), but it's very cool and pretty indeed I hope that one day it'll find its way upstream 🙂

@coldclimate@hachyderm.io @ironicbadger@techhub.social also because GitHub Actions weren't excluded despite being launched halfway through the dataset (they did exclude Codespaces and Copilot, but not Actions)

@ljs@mastodonapp.uk But they can actually eliminate employees, no? I can absolutely imagine that I might be able to wield an AI agent in a way that makes a few of my colleagues unnecessary. Perhaps it will cost just as much but I won't be burning out by having to argue with people who refuse to learn the most basic stuff and whose communication deficiencies make me gaslight myself into insanity. I mean, I'm just as worried as the rest of Fedi about the pedophile billionaire class mishandling the economy and climate changing due to AI. But I'm also cautiously excited about being able to work on a product myself without having to argue with pricks.

@ljs@mastodonapp.uk Curious what your setup is btw — I've been procrastinating on adopting anything besides GitHub Copilot, because I can assign tasks online and none of it runs on my hardware and thus I don't need to worry about security. Made a few steps towards running something in a VM and I've also researched ways/tools to tackle the problem of an agent accidentally exfiltrating my tokens and ssh keys. At the end of the day, however, I always just find myself happily coding away on my own because that's fun and nobody pays me to be fast. :-) So little progress is being made to actually experiment with this stuff.
