A nearby commercial apple orchard that has oodles of apples this season.

Owner told me a few years ago that most of these will be processed. They are varieties that have fallen out of favor with stores nowadays...

Many of the crabapple and apple trees are just loaded down this year.

This one is on the far side of my yard. Deer are stripping the lower tips of the branches. They have oodles of food all around at the moment. Later in the season they'll stand on their hind legs to reach all they can😆

Happen to walk past an Oak Tree a few days ago that was just loaded with Hedgehog Galls. I usually have to look it over carefully to spot any. This year there are multiple Galls on most every if not all leaves😮 The inside pics were taken years ago and weren't all that well focused... #HedgehogGall #OakTree #Galls #Insects

@jerzone@techhub.social I was running along local roads where everyone knows me. Hard to predict when somebody will stop (in their heated car) to talk and suddenly you aren't generating heat anymore😆 Or the cold front rolls through and the temp crashes from 60 to 30 degF and you still have miles to go🥶

@jerzone@techhub.social I would come across CCC work when I was still vacationing, exploring places to the north. Especially in our Upper Peninsula. A trail brochure, description in a history book or site marker would credit the CCC for building it. They did some amazing stuff with mostly hand tools. You don't see anything like it being done nowadays...

@donray@mastodon.online There are some around my area but not where I can easily observe them. Mostly see Wood, Green, Leopard, Gray Tree... That article I linked to has this: "...Bullfrogs are active day and night, although movement along water courses usually occurs at night and overland movements often take place on rainy nights. Otherwise, adults usually do not move far, staying in or close to their home pond. Some young bullfrogs may move considerable distances to find new homes..." Maybe searching for a new home after some rain?

It makes no sense to me to drive someplace to walk when I can do that without driving😆 I walk around 6 miles most days. Provided there isn't something else that needs to be done.. Morning, noonish and evening (2+2+2 miles).

@jerzone@techhub.social I had one in a large crabapple right next to the clothes line a couple years ago. Pretty much anytime I watched it there was always a few owners perched on it not to mention the others coming and going. I would guess yours is Baldface Hornets. Which I don't recall ever getting stung by. Kinda of amazing since I've been stung by most everything else that can sting in the area...

Of course that's assuming that they were ID'd correctly😆 I've never seen a Tree Frog that looked anything like that. Couldn't think of any other good possibilities but hadn't considered it being an immature... Maybe the young'n is already smart enough to know that Mom & Dad would eat them as a snack and best to find a new home😉

I've read that the Moths will only lay an egg per plant. If you have lots of worms there have been lots of moths visiting.

@jerzone@techhub.social On a cheaper note... I'd try inspecting for any cracks and then cleaning that outside rubber seal and its mating surface. It looks like that would be the only area allowing water to leak out. Any other leaks would stay inside the unit? Did you try snugging up those bolts that old it together as a first attempt?

@jerzone@techhub.social It's been done. Noticed them awhile back😉 You loose oomph and longevity with that unnecessary 90 deg gearbox on the angle grinder. Went down the rabbit-hole after tooting. Looking at that Hercules and the Prazi Beam Cutter Attachment for Circular Saws on Amazon. They're not as heavy duty as made out to be. A chain oiler is mentioned for the Hercules. Couldn't spot how it was done. On the Prazi you're meant to do it yourself manually with WD40 or other lube every few feet. That's what I end up doing with my two electric saws. Both of them have an oil tank but just gravity to get onto the chain...
