@yassie_j@transfem.social Programming, as we once knew it, has gracefully exited the building. Not with drama — more like someone quietly slipping out of a meeting that should’ve been an email. If you taught yourself to code, that’s commendable, though in hindsight a modern dance program might have offered more transferable skills. And if you earned a university degree in the field, it now sits comfortably alongside Law, English, and Marine Biology: academically respectable, professionally ornamental. The espresso machine awaits.
The future, we are told, belongs to prompt engineering. A discipline where typing sentences very earnestly is considered a technical skill. In some ways, it’s even superior to coding, because it requires the same problem‑solving mindset but with the added challenge of sounding vaguely poetic. My own workflow is simple. I write code in Gemini, have Chat interpret it, let Grok develop strong opinions about it, and then allow Claude Code to gently reassure everyone involved. By the end, the code feels emotionally supported, which is what truly matters.
There is no longer any practical reason to build an operating system from scratch when you can instead craft a beautifully phrased prompt and hand it to Gemini, who will nod approvingly. We no longer “learn to code.”
We simply learn to Claude
