Replying to
@michalfita@mastodon.social @marmarta@chaos.social Qt Widgets can be used from CXX-Qt, but since much of the API relies on raw pointers, it can result in a lot of unsafe Rust — essentially just writing C++ in Rust — which offers little benefit on the UI side. If you really need Qt Widgets, a better approach is to keep the GUI logic in C++ while moving the models and backend to Rust. That works well, as things like QAbstractListModels can be exposed cleanly through CXX-Qt. If you have more questions, feel free to join the discussion on the CXX-Qt Zulip https://cxx-qt.zulipchat.com/ or open a GitHub discussion.

Qt Designer integration in CLion may not match Qt Creator - but with a few tweaks, it can be significantly improved.

Jesper Pedersen demonstrates how to open the corresponding .ui file directly from a .cpp using an External Tool, along with a shortcut adjustment for more #QtCreator–like window handling.
