Ya know I did wonder cuz I'm sure I remembered it being the *Bill and Melinda* Foundation, but now i know she bailed on the foundation and their marriage citing ol Bill's ties to Epstein. I formally redact my previous message; there is probably no redemption arc here, just better PR than the other scum.

For the legitimate criticisms you can level at the Gates foundation (there's a few, he's not perfect), stepping back from Microsoft and ploughing millions of USD into charity successfully turned that reputation around, far as i can tell anyway. So it's entirely possible to have a redemption arc, if they wanted to. They're choosing not to.

What has two thumbs and has been running desktop linux for nearly 3 months and is now pretty happy with the whole experience?

The initial setup is frustrating, there will be problems. But in the end, you'll be able to perform such tasks windows 11 finds impossible like:

Adjusting the height of of your taskbar!
An advert-free start menu!
A notepad completely free of copilot!

And many more!

@anon_opin@mastodon.social There is no inheritance tax because Charles doesn't really own most of it. The crown estate (all the royal lands and castles and racecourses and whatnot) which generate about a billion pounds a year were traded off to the government in 1760. The monarch of the day gets a 12% cut to keep doing royal things, the treasury keeps the rest. While I am, in theory, against the idea of kings, I am fully behind a 88% tax on billionaires so I think this is quite a reasonable arrangement.
