That appears to be the norm here, and frankly this is exactly why this place is more or less the same as a gated off HOA
I really do think the Mastodon model is great, and it's a shame that this absolutism is probably what's going to keep it wildly obscure.

What "community?" This response is a perfect encapsulation of why Mastodon sucks. It's clear that you want an IN group and an OUT group. You're just thinking about who's in the club and who isn't.
I'm trying to something more nuanced here. I can appreciate that Stallman did a LOT of useful things and also said some foul shit and that "cancellation" can have consequences.
Or, I guess, enjoy your HOA.
