So someone just got hired in my office and their information gets sent to me so I can start getting them set up and I see their personal email is "Firstinitial.Lastname1488@gmail.com"

Immediately raised an eyebrow but then I thought oh it could just be their birthday. Probably January 4, 1988 that makes sense, it would fit with when they graduated high school etc, and they must not know about the whole Nazi affiliation

Then I got their driver's license and their birthday is January 4, ah see? Just an unfortunate coincidence

But wait, their birthday is January 4, 1989..... So their email almost has their birthday in it but they changed one digit and now it says "1488".... And like when you create an email you're not leaving a typo in there right? They must have specifically decided to change it from "1489" to "1488"

That's weird right? I feel like that's weird, like is there a normal explanation? Am I being paranoid?

The fact that it took until Fatal Fury hit just 20% of its roster being women for Reddit (at least, I'm not on other FGC social media) to notice the gender disparity, but the instant 2XKO's women reached 50% of its roster, people seemed to start noticing. It reminded me of that one study about how men overestimate how many women are in a group. Like men would be shown a picture of a group, a third of which were women, and most men would think it was a 50/50 split. But if they were shown a group that was 50% women they'd assume it was majority women. Men just really aren't used to women occupying space

It feels like one of those things where someone learns how to be woke without unlearning all of the prejudice and biases and propaganda they've been taught growing up in the US so they're like "oh it's wrong to blame all our problems on a minority? And Israel is doing something bad? Let's blame all of our problems on them! Yeah we're woke"

Going to see the new Spider-Man movie because I always go see the new Spider-Man and it occurred to me that I haven't seen an MCU movie in 2 years. My wife hasn't seen one in 3 years.

And we were two millennial nerds who saw every one in theaters the night they released from Iron Man all the way up to Avengers Endgame

So like if Marvel can't get us to go out and see your movies, you've clearly got a problem

Riot put out an article about how they named 2XKO and the few rejected names are real head scratchers. On the long list of 400 titles they had: Rising Legends Runeterra Rumble FIGHT4 DARE2BE MYMAIN And then some of the other finalists were: Double Edge Ascendion Duality Like if that's what you were working with I guess I understand now why you picked 2XKO

The new Avatar fighting game came out and it's sick as hell but they clearly rushed the release in time for the new movie because it doesn't have any skill-based matchmaking which means every fight I've been completely steamrolled, thrown into the air juggled, and tossed around like I'm fighting the Avatar herself

Of the games I looked at, Guilty Gear Strive is the second best game for female fighters This doesn't surprise me because Strive is also the only game I looked at with a canonical non-binary character (Testament) and a transgender character (Bridget), so it's clear they're much more comfortable pushing the boundaries of gender representation. That also contributes to the game's fan base and player base being kind of infamous for its gender diversity

The only game I found that had more women than men was 2XKO, the League of Legends fighting game. It released with 7 male characters and 4 female characters, but it's first season consists of 5 women and only 1 male character. After the expansion roster was announced, there were comments on Reddit noting how there were a lot of women. Ironic since the new characters just barely made the games roster crack 50% female and it's one of the only fighting games in history that even does that

I live in a very small town and the only bakery with vegan options is unfortunately Harry Potter-themed

Normally I don't go there but it was Mikaela's birthday and I wanted to get her a sweet treat

After the big flashback to his childhood over the last 20 chapters or so, I think I can safely say that Luffy is one of my all-time favorite characters in any story His mixture of boundless optimism, naivety, stubbornness, goofiness, and unwavering loyalty to his friends and any downtrodden people makes him so incredibly endearing and entertaining And then Oda keeps pushing him to his limits emotionally and physically to bend or break those qualities and it either ends with Luffy doing the sweetest, bravest thing possible (often without even knowing why besides "this person needs help") or he ends up beaten to hell and losing someone or something close to him I just love him so much

My wife and I started dating in April 2019 I came out and began transitioning in February 2021 We got married in August 2024 That means she was dating a "boy" for less than 2 years before I transitioned. Then she was dating a woman for 3 years before we got married, and we've been married for 2 more years. Just something I think it's important to remind myself when I get down about myself

I swear to god ever since my therapist started saying she thinks I'm on the autism spectrum I feel like I'm now noticing something everyday that could be related to autism Like "oh I love making a spreadsheet and talking about fighting games so I now have 100 games logged and oh this might be autism" or like losing track of a conversation in a dense social setting "oh maybe that's autism" or feeling so tired that I sleep for 12 hours on the weekends "oh maybe that's because I'm being overstimulated at work a lot recently"
