Asking the dental hygienist for the mint flavor, knowing it'll pair nicely with the sleeve of thin mints I'm gonna demolish on the drive home.

Attempting to sell a bidet (never used) at a yard sale. Curious to see how this goes.

@craiglambie42@fosstodon.org @bms48@mastodon.social @tchambers@indieweb.social I feel like LinkedIn is approaching its final form as advanced dystopian satire to the extent that I'm starting to enjoy it... for all the wrong reasons, to be clear
The conversation around the latest AI models and cybersecurity is sobering, but personally, having worked in both tech and microbiology, I'm more worried about frontier models enabling biological weapons... My brain always goes to The Cobra Event by Richard Preston. I think the average person vastly overestimates the amount of resources required to engineer the next pandemic.

@cstross in matcha farms, shade is strategically added in the weeks leading up to harvest to juice chlorophyll production.
Honest question: is it feasible that a data center could create "100+ high-paying permanent jobs" in the surrounding community? Job creation from the planned Jay data center is purportedly a key reason behind #janetmills vetoing the #maine moratorium... But I'm struggling to imagine how you get to that number.
@david_kehm@theforkiverse.com certainly unsettling to say the least!
Just learned about "agentic" storefronts and how the consent around opt-in for small businesses selling on major platforms like shopify is shaping up to be murky at best.
Watched #nootherchoice the other day. Fantastic movie.
Working on my on #fediverse implementation and trying to figure out the best way to discover remote content... I'm thinking about having it so that when a local user follows a user on a remote server, the system backfills the any accounts followed by the remote server... i.e. pull in data for "friends-of-friends". Feels natural.
The other strategy I'm thinking of would be something like #starterpacks

@ayo@social.ayco.io @elk@m.webtoo.ls I've been working on building my own Mastodon-compatible server and I've found Elk to be pretty handy for testing locally.
