Now, after 3 months of pulmonary rehab, along with shedding nearly 30kgs, it is still hard. But, it isn't something I have to work up to. I can even make it up at the beginning of my day, which is around 8 hours since my last meds. No going up and down the stairs whenever I want, it always has a purpose(getting Murphy food for the day, or going up the stairs outside with the Experience Gang). Still, it is a tiny bit of extra independence I thought I would never get back

At my pulmonary doctors appointments, I typically use willingness to go up a flight of stairs as a to describe how I feel most days. There were times during the months of trying to get my meds again(and the months after) where going upstairs was a multi hour planning session. I was still trying to do some food delivery, and it took me about 5 hours to work up the strength just to get upstairs to bathe. It improved a lot after I started seeing the heart failure doc, but not a ton.

I showed you my belly, please respond!

Also, first person to ever see Sodium Pop Lightning!'s jellybean toes! Don't usually go out this late in the morningnight, but I am glad I did. Soda Pop burst out of the bushes as he always does now when he see's me. The growl of the scared little kitty is completely gone now, replaced with a cat who still needs to be cautious, but knows there is safety here.

@giflian@techhub.social I think I just intervened early enough that he never went true feral. Definitely a creature of the wild, but he is not Dorian or Inspector Clouseau. His shying away from humans is at stranger danger house cat levels, not the stay 20 meters away human while I eat that those two have.

Today, I decided to see if Soda Pop would be willing to jump up onto the window with prompting from a laser pointer. He has jumped up there, but only on his time(like, when he jumped in my kitchen window to get my attention). I have been trying for a couple days, but today was the day, and it unlocked something in him. After two laser pointer jumps, he has decided it is now one of his waiting spots after he alerts me to his presence.

@giflian@techhub.social indeed. While there is still some important socialization work to do, I consider Jasper to be this as well. I consider that important because I love him and really really want to be able to pet him time more. Already way more socialized than some house cats I have known, including a certain poltergeist Neko Yurei, or my aunts old sweet kitty who only liked like 5 people, myself included.

My guess is he was around 4 to 6 months old when he showed up at my door in April, and I suspect he lived around the parking lot of the building across that street that was they started tearing down at the same time. As that is where Murphy was found, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there have been more cats abandoned there.

In my continuing quest to convince the little Soda Pop to let me pet him, I decided to try an altered version of how I convinced Dazzle to become best friends with me. Took a few minutes, but I finally got him to sniff and rest on my shirt. It ended soon after, as Smeagol also wanted to smell my shirt. I told her only kitty cats are allowed to do that.

Last night was yet another great night with Soda Pop, though I am lacking in any more good photos. Sodium "discovered" the Catnip Massage Chair, the top of the hill, the stairs to the upper porch, and that he can climb up trees really well! So much running last night. Hopefully, he has a good place to take a long nap.

Crazy active night that I should be able to post pictures of later! I think Soda has spent nearly the entire night in my yard. When I think I have worn him out, he just comes back looking for more! I think he was also following around Smeagol for part of that time. Climbing the screen door and rustling around in the noisy bushes were very fascinating for him. Me as well, as I didn't realize they were so loud.

A 20 minute and a 30! minute playtime with Soda Pop today! The night isn't even over, so I expect to see him at least once more. First round Jasper was starting to get in on the fun, though he wasn't entirely sure yet if everyone was playing, as Sodium tried to jump on him. Based on the noises that were just barely audible from Soda, he was definitely playing. Smeagol got in on the fun the second round as well, but thankfully didn't play with Soda.

Murphy is a bit more relaxed now that my Mom can get into her wheelchair by herself, which means he can convince her to let him out at night again... Of course, a more active night wheelchair is quite scary, so the time he has spent demanding pets on the stairs has only slightly decreased.

Of course, the Experience Gang would have scattered at the that point, leaving me without witnesses. I do have my oxygen, which probably saves me from a long conversation

I am really glad that someone out there gets to talk to people about their Penguin without first mentioning their Penguin is a cat. It partially influenced the name for my youngest cat, Sodium Pop Lightning!, who I nicknamed Soda Pop.

Was a tad worried when I walked outside for cat concierge service as there were two tiny partial footprints next to the doormat that were definitely not water. I worried it was Smeagol, as that is where she has climb-jumping down onto these days(from not very far up). When no one seemed injured, I remembered that the bad camera points there. Turns out, Smeagol had just stepped on a very squishy worm...

As I expected, Jasper-Pop appeared again at around 0520. I suspect they had been here for more than a few minutes, as I saw them huddling on the west side of the house together. I really only caught them that quickly because Smeagol was climbing. The second I stepped outside, X22 appeared, and while wrangling Smeagol, the light shone on Jasper-Pop. I was able to gets cats to the shelf, and raccoons to the north.
