Went to the Dunes today, tried the West beach! Gary looks terrible :( I am so sorry what y'all had to endure there. But the park is looking better with every time I visit. Except the flags. Can anyone explain why there are 600,000 flags? We were flabbergasted.

A horse fly once bit my ankle because I wore red socks and I think it thought I was a bleeding cow. It got infected and my leg swell for 2 weeks to the width of my head. I still wish a generational curse on that fly.

Potato has an incredible talent to read minds. The second I had a thought "I need to get out of bed and do some work" he ran into the bedroom and laid down on my legs. 90 seconds and he is asleep. He was nowhere to be found when I was scrolling. This has happened so often that I don't think it's a coincidence. He only comes seconds before I am about to do something else.

I am going insane. Every time I kill a fly - another one respawns. I've killed over 20 now and Potato caught one. I have no idea where they are coming from. Took trash out, checked perimeter of the house. I've never been so flabbergasted in my life.

In good news, I have read 20 books already this year and didn't even notice doing so. Back in the game 😎
My partner is 1500 words into Ukrainian learning and he reads really well. He mastered understanding cognates, which is a big chunk of languages of indo-european origin.
I now give him a list of items with specifications in Ukrainian, and he can find his way around Ann's Deli and Bakery in Chicago by just looking and understanding the writing on labels.
It bums me out when people tell me their partner doesn't want to learn their first language. I know how lucky I am <3
Currently there are russians inside russia that don't believe that Ukraine is bombing them as they watch us bombing them with their own eyes. They think so little of Ukraine that they can not fathom that we have missiles that go that deep into their territory.
russians will never stop waging war against Ukraine because their average katyas and vanyas feel inherently superior to Ukrainians in every way. Their next leader is already born and is being shaped in that garbage society.

I am going to make a 50 cell table. Every time someone in my circle, be it jobs or friends, says something infuriating and prompting me to respond, or I read news that I want to vent about to my partner - I will fill in one cell, take a deep breath and walk away from the situation. I will do that 50 times before I am allowed to interact again.
I am so emotionally exhausted. This will either help me let it go or will bottle up my feelings and make me explode. Tune in to see in a few weeks

@Emmeline that's amazing!!! It makes me so happy to hear about people learning Crimean Tatar! It is a beautiful language. I wish I could recommend (not that you asked for any lol) learning materials, but all I know is Ukrainian to Crimean Tatar. All I can recommend is Jamala's Qirim album - I learned English through songs myself - but you've probably already heard it.

Ukraine is now above the US in the Index of freedom of press rating. 55th. russia, obviously, is in the bottom 10.
My mom said the photographers at the funeral were incredibly invasive in the family's personal space. It's upsetting that some "journalists" make other people's personal tragedy into clicks for their Instagram account.

When I first went to art school as a child, I was taught that rulers are illegal and if you had to glue a piece of paper over a mistake - you are a failure and the scum of the world.
Now as I admire original pages of comic book artists who are

2) insanely creative and versatile

Between communicating with my family in Ukraine about our loss, the funeral and travel arrangements, and helping my partner, who is currently in Japan, cancel cards and get cash via WU because he lost his wallet, I am in three different timezones and three distinctly different distressed states of mind. Oh and a pharmacist said my name was russian this morning, cherry on top. Haven't had a break since February.

I went from buying smoked salmon at Costco to buying frozen franks at Costco on the same salary.
