@thelinuxcast As the saying goes, “These are the problems you WANT to have.” I haven’t spent a lot on #FountainPens because I’m happy with the experience and performance of my Pilot Metropolitan and Kaweco Sport. I have a few others, but I haven’t found a reason to get a more-expensive pen because these are so good! Don’t ask me about #SlideRules, though. Every time I think I have all of them I need, I have an “Oh! Shiny!” moment… Hobbies give us a happy place.

More Pascal (I really thought Pascal was going to be "the one"!)

@kerrick@dotnet.social I have forgotten EVERY BIT of Pascal I learned (in addition to COBOL). Maybe I should revisit it. As much as people love to hate Javascript, I think it has a lot to teach us. And, ok, some of it is “what not to do”. And it’s as accessible as BASIC was for us back in the day.

Joe, you mentioned on the last LNL how it isn’t as much fun to talk about FOSS as it used to be. You’re right, it used to be all good news. And now it’s all Linux vulnerabilities and infighting (AI, office suites, X11 vs Wayland, etc etc).

FOSS used to seem like one big notion we could all unite around, and now not so much. Have we fans of FOSS lost our way? Have we lost our identity? Are we being overtaken by enshittification?
