@Sobtanian @apzpins most of the time they get pronounced the way they would were they without diacritics or other visual transformations, for example "ø" is pronounced the way "o" would in the target language. These letters' pronunciations vary between languages, for example the "ä" in Swedish and German denote different acoustic characteristics and behave differently in regard to neighboring letters. These are just letters (graphemes) not sounds (phonemes). Also, general assumptions about the sound of different languages are often incorrect, Swedish "Göteborg" being a nice example. (I'm simplyfing some concepts for the sake of legibility)

@MelissaBearTrix My stress concerning going out is less than it used to be because I pass better, yet I still assess the risks and will sometimes carry tear gas (bought after I got assaulted). Please do not use "trans" without an accompanying noun as it gives the wrong message. Numerous people will not understand you mean "a trans person of whatever gender/sex" and will instead take it as "oh you're a transgender". It's not great either semantically or politically.

Shopping websites translating item titles and descriptions automatically could be a new vector of language change as I now see "booster" (a small pack of trading card games) translated into Polish as "dopalacz" (that I have only ever seen used with the meaning "designer drug"). I'm curious if people will catch on.

If they do not care to check if their actions are criminal, that's less important. "I didn't know it is a crime" is not really a defense, and here we're not talking public consumption of alcohol, or advocating for a repressed minority, but dismantling a country. It's serious and deserves public outcry. We won't agree on it but thanks for the reply.

I suppose they know perfectly well what they are doing, and do not care at all that it is illegal because they are aware that once there is no democratic administration, they will never face any consequences. I would not absolve them of their responsibility. I think people agreeing to dismantle a country under a fascist are the issue.

The only online source I found did indeed provide a latinised text although the accompanying sound description was just a very basic American English phonetic respelling. A rendition in IPA of even a few passages would be immensely useful. The article you provided is very in-depth. Thank you! I will make sure to share it with the friend whom I am helping. 😊
