Open post Howard Lane @howard@greennet.social · 7mo ago Replying to @AlexGallagher@mastodon.scot Are you a woman? Is your mother a woman? Is your wife a woman? Sister? Daughter? Do you have a Granny? Aunts? Female cousins. Is your neighbour a woman? Do you have female friends? Are you a decent, respectable human being? Then there's no way you can vote for this. Spread the word. #reform #ukpolitics #womensrights @AlexGallagher I think Matthew left out the word "white" before "women". I don't think they want non-white women to have more children.
Open post Howard Lane @howard@greennet.social · 6mo ago Replying to @jbond@mastodon.social
The UK Right-Wing parties are going hard today on how the UK is a Christian country. The thing is we're actually an A-Religious country. 30% say they have no religion when asked. 30% were brought up in a faith but haven't though about it since they were 10. 20% know what to do in a place of worship, but only ever go for weddings and funerals. Which leaves 10% who are just getting old.

It's not that we're Atheist. We're A-Religious. We're simply not interested and don't care.
@jbond But again we have an established church (in England) and its head is the monarch, so we live in a theocracy.. Time to dis-establish.

Open post Howard Lane @howard@greennet.social · 16mo ago Replying to @brucelawson@social.vivaldi.net
At the weekend, a group of trans women protested topless at the Scottish Parliament about the recent Supreme Court ruling that the Equality Act defines women as "biological women". The police couldn't arrest them, because to arrest them for showing their breasts would be to define them as women (it's not illegal for men to be topless). And, of course, the right-wing press that reported on it censored their breasts, thereby making their point for them.
@brucelawson@social.vivaldi.net In Scotland you have to be "offending public decency" but simply being naked is not illegal.
