@mattblaze@federate.social @GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social That description reminds of how (supposedly, wasn't alive back then) the question of waste from nuclear energy was handled where I live: It will be no problem, because we will have figured out soon, how to completely deal with it, like recycle it or make it absolutely safe

@davidgerard "[...] But I want to say as someone who's worked and used Yegge's early agent-written software, you want this. And, frankly, you want to be able to participate in it and get PRs in. There are a LOTT of bugs early days. I think well disclosed it's probably a plus."
But you want robbers to empty your bank account, otherwise your money would only sit there doing nothing. When they have it, they will spend it and grow the economy. Maybe they'll even spend it at the company you work at!

@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social I had this thought for all A"I" slop peddlers for a long time now. The only way to make people pay the absurd prices that are necessary, is only possible if enough people totally depend on it.
Also, utilizing gambling addiction has been a thing in Big Tech for a very long time now.

Und das wird die nächsten Jahre und Jahrzehnte noch viel mehr werden.

@aral@mastodon.ar.al What I learned as part of Russia's attack on Ukraine, is that it's widely thought that sending a "I'm sorry"-letter is enough to satisfy NATO treaties, but the moment you attack an EU member you are at war with all of them.
Alas, in realpolitik nothing needs to be as written down

@lritter@mastodon.gamedev.place @tante@tldr.nettime.org I'm afraid the possible upside for the investors is gigantic.
Right now, Google is sort of a gateway to get to information somewhere else on the internet, but often you still have to go there. With this, Google is (trying to be) the gateway to information, period.
Without sources, you have to rely on what Google tells you. They control what's the "truth" for many people. Add the possibility to tinker with said output.

Daumen gedrückt und hoffentlich behält die menschengewordene Widerwärtigkeit Recht: "If we [conservatives] lose the midterms and we lose 2028, some in this room are going to prison, myself included."
