People who vibe code with AIs swear that they check the code, that they know what they are doing and that they verify tests and deployments.
Maybe at first. But in my experience, every single one eventually and invariably become the Simpsons drinking bird that keeps pressing Y on the keyboard, nothing more, no checking, no analysis, no mind, just pressing a button.
The saddest thing is that some are aware of this and they try to justify it to you. Up until it breaks.

I'll probably lurk in mastodon or maybe update the website someday. Yeah, I like having to go to more than one website.

@drwhax@infosec.exchange Look, many people have different reasons to be against AI.
Mine is a very specific position against vibe coding, generative AI and ghoulish tech bros and their wannabes wanting to actively destroy excellence, art, nature and human work.
If you have a tool that does not contradict these specifics, then I have no issue. A static analyser ML-like code tool that works on premises, doesn't make a tech bro richer and dry a lake? This is OK for me (and I suspect, the future or much of this)

"Jarred was already writing slop well before he had access to LLMs."
Ohhh, we need to call an ambulance because that was such a burn!!!
I also like "...and now I'm metaphorically sipping delicious tea from a mug that says "It Tastes Like It's Not My Problem Anymore"."
In any case, its interesting to know that this was actually a problem, and its good that the team actually feels better with how current events unfolded.
Hope that the best of Zig is yet to come!

@drwhax@infosec.exchange I personally dont and will never vibe code because, in a very personal position, I love my brain and I like to think, and a brain without friction will cease to function (use it or lose it).
I love people making art (and yes, this includes code). And I deeply hate the contempt for people paying a tech bro to use genAI to dismiss and degrade those artists with a sort of vindictive glee, especially since most artists are already treated so badly. It is disgusting.

@drwhax@infosec.exchange But are you maling a tech bro richer to vibe code everything you do and just pressing Y without thinking, wasting tokens as much as possible because who cares? I have beef.
Are you actively (and disgustingly so), trying to replace every human in the loop just to create ghibli styled art slop or disgusting political videos so you can further your agenda? I have beef.
Are you actively numbing your brain, stop thinking about anything and becoming a reverse centaur on purpose? I have beef.

IMO it must be staged. I mean, from an outside perspective. If this was a true reaction of the US Secret service, I'd be less embarrassing and more believable to say it was staged than to pretend it was real.
For me, this was a full Frank Drebin Naked Gun style of incompetence displayed here, with politicians shielding themselves pregnant women! (Stephen Miller)
This will make people from outside the USA think way, way less of them. More than the Iran war is doing already.

I've heard people truly believe that antifa stands for "anti family".
They ask because they genuinely can't see the connection to their actions (genuine questions like "why is no kings an antifa march? What, why?") and when explained they go "ah that makes WAY more sense".
So it's not completely out of the picture that at least some people don't truly get the antifa moniker, and got fed a distorted version of the thing.

@MarkHoltom@mastodonapp.uk you know, this makes me want to create a website where you can make these same comparisons with any country you choose.
It would be interesting to actually see these comparison results for many countries in relation to the US.

@Amorpheus @codebyjeff If you want a somewhat Christian-catholic answer. A prophet not necessarily predicts the future, but claims to be connected with God or speak for it.
Jesus, speaking of false prophets, says that to recognise them, you have to see "the fruit they bear". A false prophet will never bear good fruit, a true one will always bear good fruit.
Depending on the interpretation, a true prophet can simply mean to be a good decent person, that never actually claims to be a prophet.

@andyb@mastodon.au My father used to herd cows for milk, and he described their nature as exactly this. They are just big lovely dogs that don't know their own strength, but can learn.
He used to play a lot with them, and if you were rough, they were rough, but if you were gentle, they would as well. He eventually left the business because the didn't have the heart to deal with the whole thing (you eventually have to sell them to slaughter, and that would always break his heart).

@queenofsquiggles I know plenty of devs, indie and not indie, who will not make an OSX version unless they are getting paid to do it in a way that justifies the effort.
This is actually a common trend, so I don't see any issue with not supporting OSX.

But if you are strictly limited to the four evangelic texts. Jesus does not describe what a prophet is (you could interpret that, for Jesus, the definition is irrelevan. But I digress).
He does point between a "true prophet" and a "false prophet". And the only true difference he makes is about their results and actions (e.g. the fruit they bear).
Other descriptions (like the mark of the beast) goes beyond anything Jesus said and goes in other texts.

And whether you accept the other texts, and even apocryphal ones (I.e. the ones that are not the bible), or even taken into account things like the old testament... Well is a huge can of worms for just one topic.
I suppose that is there a literal field of study, theology, just for those religious topics

@drwhax@infosec.exchange But I don't mind the underlying tech as much as I dont have a beef against the, let's say Microsoft Kinect (a tool made in essence the same way).
So are you getting a Chinese open weight, AI (people won't say it, maybe because of fear of retaliation from the US, but most companies will do this) stuffing it in your server and having 90% effectiveness to find vulnerabilities and doing static analysis in code locally?
That sounds like an actual use case. Just one the tech bros don't like.
