Tired of "free" QR code generators that are full of ads and trackers, that share your data, and that want to sell you something? Me too. Here's my act of resistance: I made a one-page site that works entirely in your browser to generate a simple QR code. And that's all it does. You can download the HTML page and run it locally, even. Read the source; nothing up my sleeves. Just a QR code.

My offer to you -- I will continue to pay for the domain name and web hosting for it, myself. If you find it valuable, you can pay it back by creating your own useful thing for the world and releasing it for free. Let's take back the friendly web, one vexingly-monetized utility at a time!

Okay so apparently in order to contribute to my local #buynothing community, I have to either be on Facebook or I have to download an app and register. I just want to find a home for a box of fun electronics that some local hacker will find interesting.

Playing with the M5Stack Tab5 is like trading in a compact car for a Winnebago. The #esp32 P4 is just so roomy and full of features. I also love having a real battery on there instead of needing a separate USB power bank.

Never really played with the ESP32 before but my brother likes them so I figured I'd try a couple Cheap Yellow Displays.

They have an ad-hoc networking mode, ESP-NOW, that makes it easy to broadcast stuff. So here are two of them broadcasting a sort of shared whiteboard to each other.

Let's see where this new rabbit hole goes!

CroppyTime is now version 1.4. I finally got around to leveraging macOS' built in vision capabilities and now it will automatically guess at the selection you're going to want, when you drag a photo of a document/postcard/receipt onto it.
