After the farmers (well the multi-million companies profiting from industrial farming) turned our nation's flag upside down. And D66 ((currently the largest) political party) campaigned with 'reclaiming the flag from the far right'. One of my fav images from today's climate protest is the one below.
It's simple yet creative, effective, and reclaims the flag (from the hateful us-them rhetorics it has been used for).
10/10. No notes.
Update: flag by Noor Nuyten. Photographer unknown, sorry.

This is so cool.
They planted herbs and clover between fruittrees instead of grass and because the herbs and clover have deeper roots they survive the heat better and reduce the ground temp with up to 20 degrees Celsius (compared to grass).

Why do so many people, when you email them two questions only reply to one? 🤔
I need to sort something out on a website that (for days now) won't allow me to log in, figured I'd email support about it. But to do so you need to log in 😑
Does anyone know whether an 'empty screenings' site like: https://walzr.com/empty-screenings exists for Dutch cinemas?
At this rate you have a duck room before the week is over 🦆 🦆 🦆 🦆

Ik noem het het 'wat de boer niet kent bestaat niet' mechanisme. Verbaas me er nog dagelijks over hoe extreem diep geworteld het in elk aspect van het NLse systeem zit. Vind ik ook heel erg lastig.
Great offer! Just make sure you fit test (as with any mask) to make sure it's a good fit for your face 😊
@David@setouchi.social Very true, I mean look at Covid. I guess people assume they'll be in the safe group 🤔
'The Netherlands must decide how many additional deaths and damage due to climate change is acceptable, and who should be protected to what extent.'
😳
The thing that astonishes me most about political climate action is the lack of ambition disguised as 'being realistic'. Even though if they actually would be realistic we'd have ambitious political climate action.

The Dutch minister of health* mentioned blood tests.

Meer dan Babi pangang was on tv on Tuesday. You can watch it here: https://npo.nl/start/video/meer-dan-babipangang/meer-informatie
(don't know if/when they'll move it to the paid side of the site but it's free to watch from within The Netherlands for now)

Sounds delightful 😊
There should be a ban for on hold music. Or at the very least a compulsory option to turn it off.
@Pepijn@mastodon.online
Pepernoten in April, my kind of people 😎
Hmm I don't know about that. It would require more coordination than these people seem capable of, besides it's not like they are protecting themselves from covid.
It was quite refreshing to be annoyed at my computer and it having nothing to do with AI.
Due to the Climate Crisis, the majestic Emperor Penguin is now an endangered species. 😔

The post delivery app no longer shows all mail headed to your address for 'housemate privacy'.
Sound like a feature you'd put in the settings to me, but they rolled it out to everyone.
Now my post doesn't appear in the app anymore. So I set out to fix this.
I just had a conversation with a company that has delivered post for over 2 centuries that [first name] [last name] and [initial of the first name] [last name] is the same person.
Needless to say, the problem did not get fixed. 😑

😂 I guess looking at it from that perspective it almost seems like they've learned something (not much though)
They let the cruise passengers go home where they're allowed to be with non-cruise passengers and they are allowed to go to medical appointments after they notify the government. Worse though, they're allowed to go outside for 'necessary exercise' though group classes should be avoided, they are advised to keep 1.5m distance and to wear baggy blue face masks.
The Dutch Houses of Parliament are being renovated, and today the news reported that the roof of the little tower (next to Mauritshuis museum (of Girl with a pearl earring fame)) that functions as the office of the prime minister dates back to 1547. They even traced the wood in the roof construction back to the South of Sweden. Isn't science just marvellous?!

Does anyone have (scientific) data about the incubation time of the current Covid variants?
I'd say especially JN.1 & XFG but this latest Dutch data is based on literally two samples from 5 weeks ago so others (like BA.3.2) are welcome too.
Thanks!
