#3GoodThings #today (or yesterday)
- USA made it to the round of 16 and I got a free beer at the pub last night
- I've had enough coffee to get into gear this morning for work
- I have tomorrow off because the 4th of July falls on a Saturday
Little slow to get going this morning after partying last night with the local U.S. soccer fans. What a crowd, what a game! #fifaworldcup
Might need to put on a second pot of #coffee to make it through the workday. The good news is I have tomorrow off so #today is like a Friday for me.
I'm having a blast playing old games on my new handheld console, like "Saiyuki - Journey West" from the original PlayStation. Sun Wukong has been one of my favorite characters since I watched "Havoc in Heaven" as a child.
Reviews compare this game to Final Fantasy Tactics, which I'm looking forward to playing next.
My #SummerGameChallenge is going well but also not. I'm an extremely slow gamer. Been playing Pokemon Red almost every day but only 30 minutes to an hour at a time. If this it the only game I finish by Labor Day I'll still be pleased.
I checked out some classical CDs and a book about Schubert from the library, and the nice lady asked me if I teach music. That's funny, I have no musical talent or knowledge whatsoever. No, I said I just like to listen, and I recently saw a thing on PBS and wanted to learn more.
It would be so funny if Three Lions charted again this year. The time since that song came out is now equal to how long ago the 1966 cup was then.
To celebrate a personal victory, I ordered myself one of those R36S retro game thingies all the cool kids have. (I was not allowed to have a Game Boy as a child.)
So the R36S I bought turned out to be a clone with half the RAM and no custom firmware support. I thought I could make it work, but performance was so poor it could not keep up with Yoshi's Island. Also the vertical format is not for me and made my fingers cramped. Controller support was not working either.
I returned it for a full refund and ordered a TrimUI Smart Pro instead. World of difference! It was twice the price, but so worth it. Comfortable to hold, smooth performance, great screen, and the stock OS is very nice. I'll gladly stick with it until I get the itch to change it.
It didn't come with an SD card so I supplied my own (SanDisk Ultra) flashed the latest firmware and added my games. Setup was a breeze. Now I'm playing Lucky Luke for the Game Boy I never had and my inner child is very happy.
@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io Hi I'm Eva and I don't know how I got here. Must be the retro stuff.
