• I actually don't listen to Epilogue: YF often bc I get very choked up listening to it, and listening to the unplugged version they released for Festa 2016 just makes me start crying outright.

• They named this trilogy "the most beautiful moment in life" and somehow it became the era that cemented their place in the industry. Doesn't that feel so fortuitous?

• Their fingerprints lovingly adorn this album and era, burned deep into every song.

These albums have always felt like already being nostalgic for the moments you're in the middle of, trying to immortalize the feeling, a high that you'll spend chasing for the rest of your life, stolen moments of happiness in days gone by that you'll look back fondly on despite the chaos that may have surrounded you.

This album and era came about in a time where they were uncertain about their futures. +

• the lingering high from performing and what it feels like to come down from it, wanting that moment with the crowds to last forever.

• A little on the nose lyrics-wise ("wandering through the maze of life"), but it makes for a simple, yet striking visual. Although of course, my favourite scene is the one towards the end where once V makes his way out of the maze, they all start running towards the setting sun together.

They speak in the lyrics about the aftermath of a concert, wondering if there were any mistakes made, how the audience responded, +

• It's such beautiful, evocative imagery, painting the picture for the listener well enough without seeming out of place with the original lyrics.

Although this version of the track was originally made for the "HYYH prologue : on stage" VCR, this is genuinely up there as one of my favourite B-sides from their discography.

• carefully led into a private space; instead of a confession that comes unbidden, it is a mustering all of one's courage, a deliberate declaration, despite the fears that wrack the narrator.

I love the reimagining of the instrumental, feeling both grounded and dreamlike, complemented by the lyrics:

• And I believe it's part of why the music resonated with a lot of people. Despite that uncertainty, the anxiety that their journey together would be cut short, they continued to make art that they believed in. They poured their hearts and souls into this.

Thankfully, that hard work paid off. HYYH era continues to be praised as a jewel in their vast discography, and Young Forever gained them their first major award (Album of the Year at MMA 2016). +

• Anyways, let's get to the actual song itself!

The song's instrumental isn't particularly a complex one, but this song doesn't really call for that considering the subject matter in the lyrics, and yet there's still enough to keep your ears interested in the instrumental, not to mention the vocals. The demons over in the BH recording dungeons have a penchant for stacking vocal harmonies, but I totally understand why, it's such a treat every time I hear them. +

• it still fits into the series/era aesthetics, but like... oh we got explosives, stunt guy(s), an army (heh) of backup dancers and extras, and crane operator money now?? Not to mention we got ash grey Yoongi, peach Tae, mint Joon, AND blonde Seokjin in the same era?? This felt like such a fever dream?? Blonde Seokjin especially??? Like you just truly had to be there when that first selca dropped.

Anyways! Let me talk about the actual song now lol +

• FIRE is actually one of my favourite title tracks from their discography bc of its lyrics. This song has little to no flowery language, getting its point across concisely, while still having a fun beat to sing and dance along to. There's a reason it has remained on their concert set lists a full decade later.

• while the FLE version feels like a wound that has nearly healed but still has the lingering pain from when the wound was still fresh. You endure it even when it feels like it's taking everything you have to keep going, bc you're still holding on to hope that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Whether it is about hope about having another chance with the person you lost or hope that you can build something new is up to one's own interpretation, +

• where Outro:LINO is primarily another vocal line track, while the FLE version became an OT7 track, with RM and JH front and centre in the second verse and SG on the bridge.

In the Outro version, there is a sense of the pain of parting still being fresh, +

• but even with the yearning and desperation in both versions, LINO has always felt hopeful to me somehow. The repeated "love is not over, over, over" at the end feels like both plea and prayer. There is pain, there is longing, but this love will go on, love never ends, love is not over.

It feels strangely fitting that this is the last song that we're discussing on this album and this era, even though this technically isn't the last track on the album (that honour goes to Butterfly Alternative Mix). The FLE version for Love Is Not Over goes through a little more of a transformation compared to House of Cards, +

• and then again once V sings about how much worse the situation has gotten, the cracks in the walls of the "house" much more prominent, threatening to collapse at any moment, yet still foolishly holding onto each other.

The third chorus brings the resolution the Outro didn't have, as that ended with a slow fade out of the instrumental, and the FLE gives a definite sense of finality, the last shared look between two lovers as the walls finally cave in with the final swell of the strings. +

• I won't have slander of either Outro or FLE, though, bc I don't think either of these versions are lesser, they just serve different purposes. Outro is bated breath, waiting for the bad thing to happen, and FLE is seeing the catastrophe finally occur, and I love both of them equally 💜

I know that there are several ways to interpret a song, but to me, this song has always felt like an honorary fan song. For a long time, the relationship between us and the members felt like we only had each other. +

• figure, and the intro instrumentals start blaring. They both reach out to shake hands, SG clicks play on the cassette tape, and immediately the hooded figure catches on fire. SG drops his hand, his expression a mix of disbelief and amusement, and says, "불타오르네 (it's burning up)".

This is still a top 10 BTS MV (to me). That intro scene is too iconic.

When I say I was gagged by this MV... like if you compare it to INU and RUN it's not that big of a jump, +
