If you dump all inarticulate, inchoate blame for the "big fuzzy cloud of badness" in your life on someone you can other(v, t)… then you _don't_ have to think about the actual causes or the fact that the solutions to those problems might be hard and involve complex socio-economic changes.

@xeno@hexokina.se Whereas here you have to know the layout of the platforms at Nuneaton* in advance, strategically board the right carriage on the London→Liverpool train, hit the ground running immediately, sprint along the platform, up the stairs, across the bridge, and down to the target platform, and yeet yourself onto the outbound Manchester train with about 5 seconds to spare.

So there was no easy way to multiply by, say, 10 (assuming your base was 10). Compare arithmetic with roman numerals versus arithmetic with indo-arabic numerals.
