I'm Emily, a late-20s married ancom transbian. Lover of Linux and Rust, though I don't know much of either. Looking to turn my linux hobby into a career!
Also into tabletop games, toki pona, and taking Star Wars: Kurosawa Mode to its logical conclusion.
today I learned that nobody cares about the sequel trilogy. nobody. People have been hardcore star wars novel dorks for 50 years now and not even they cared enough to be a market for a boxed set of the sequel trilogy novelizations. You can get them individually. Sometimes with added length.
Matthew Stover recently put out a version of his novelization of Revenge of the Sith with EDGE PAINTING AND 170+ *ANNOTATIONS BY THE AUTHOR*
A PREQUEL MOVIE'S NOVELIZATION
and still these nerds as a market don't care about the Disney mainline star wars movies
(don't get me wrong I am absolutely one of those nerds)
3PO: In fact, I'm not even sure what planet I'm on.
Luke: Well, if there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that's farthest from.
I think the reason why I love Luke's line so much is that it so effectively encapsulates how it feels to be a teenager, or someone in their 20's living with their parents. This place sucks, nothing ever happens here, there's nothing to do. My peers have all left and are doing cooler shit and I'm stuck here. It's kinda very pop punk in a way.
And it's worded in a very sci-fi way! Even if a civilization has FTL travel, sapient droids, and laser guns... Some kid will still feel all the same things as you or me because there will still be parents, still be small towns, still be kids with a dream of doing something more interesting than what they're doing now.
It tells us what we need to know about Luke and Tatooine in specific, but it also tells us about his society in general by playing to such a universal feeling as "I hate this town."
I need help finding a post. I don't think I favorited or boosted it, and the search function is... less then helpful.
It's the announcement that "Star Wars: Lynne & Roxie Edition" was available. I just immediately torrented it, and now I so wish to show my friends the post where I found it.
thanks!
