@jonmsterling@mathstodon.xyz @TaliaRinger@mathstodon.xyz I I’m a staunchly anti-war libertarian and am WELL aware of the shit show that is the last 70+ years of American foreign policy but like…I also have friends who serve in the National Guard and doing work that could result in them being less likely to die because of bad equipment or planning is something that I would be proud to contribute to

@dev@discuss.systems I’m compiling Tensorflow from source right now and it’s insane how much faster it is than an high-end Intel AWS instance with same number of cores, even running inside a Ubuntu VM
Hahahaha holy shit max* config M2 Max MBP is a beast

@jonmsterling@mathstodon.xyz @TaliaRinger@mathstodon.xyz there aren’t clear cut answers here, and as Jon says it matters what specifically your work is being used for.

@arossp@mastodon.social @junecasagrande@mastodon.social @Popehat@mastodon.social I usually primary R and then vote Ds for national office in the general, and split ballot in local races. This year I voted Peter Welch (D) for senate but Madden (R*) for house. Neither vote actually mattered because it’s VT.

@arossp@mastodon.social @junecasagrande@mastodon.social @Popehat@mastodon.social my best guess is that you’re in an echo chamber and only see “libertarian” content when one of the paleos tweets something so horrifyingly bad that it gets noticed and dragged by “Occupy Democrats” or whatever vanilla progressive meme pages you follow. Do you know anything about Cato Institute or Institute for Justice?

@rickmans@nerdculture.de much like those who use the phrase “it’s just a few bad apples” to excuse bad behavior

@Jonimus@social.treehouse.systems it’s also pretty clear to anyone paying attention that the MC takeover was externally funded specifically to achieve this end of rendering the party useless by destroying it from within
Just found out that one of the guys behind Mehran’s Steak House is a former Middlebury student I coached on entrepreneurship 🤯
My 2 year old was grunting in his chair at dinner, so my wife asked what was going on, and he says “mom, I want to un-fart it”
I just got a 7 year old C++ codebase (4.2GB compiled + another few hundred MB of source-compiled dependencies) running on Aarch64 for the first time (previously only x86_64) AND a new compiler: only about 20 lines of code actually changed in 3 functions (one of which was copy-pasted from another)
working on budgeting like "NUMBER GO DOWN"
Glad to report everyone’s favorite green space mom is still space momming

@junecasagrande@mastodon.social @arossp@mastodon.social @Popehat@mastodon.social but on the overall litmus test of “only issues that benefit rich white men” they outflank to the left anyone in the Democrat party on liberalizing immigration, criminal justice reform, and ending US neo-colonial trade policies like the Jones Act.

@Jonimus@social.treehouse.systems ideological typology polling suggests a pretty consistent ~20% of US adults are some flavor of libertarian. in the year since the MC hostile takeover of the LP, membership and donations and #s of elected libertarians have tanked to almost record lows (from record highs in the 4 years preceding) - so it’s clear that overwhelming majority of libertarians out there want nothing to do with MC style alt-right bullshit
