@Popehat@mastodon.social @arossp@mastodon.social "Libertarian" is a euphemism for "white men should get everything they want while the rest of you chumps pay for building roads and bridges."

@arossp@mastodon.social @Popehat@mastodon.social Hard not to caricature when I've never seen a self-described libertarian stand up for women's reproductive freedom yet I've seen many oppose it.

@arossp@mastodon.social @Popehat@mastodon.social Perhaps I'm not looking very hard. Perhaps there's a reason that the pro-choice majority of libertarians you describe aren't outspoken enough about it to even get their message out, choosing instead of focus on policy positions that benefit mostly rich white men.

@mmasnick If you're interested, New Yorker 2017 piece "What Does Tulsi Gabbard Believe" was a fascinating read that includes this about a religious leader she followed, Chris Butler: "Defectors tell stories of children discouraged by Butler from attending secular schools; ... of devotees lying prostrate whenever he entered the room, or adding bits of his nail clippings to their food, or eating spoonfuls of sand that he had walked upon." https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/11/06/what-does-tulsi-gabbard-believe

@VirginiaMurr@mastodon.social @arossp@mastodon.social @Popehat@mastodon.social Almost enough to make one suspect that the most basic "freedom" isn't as big a priority for them as, say, reducing their own taxes.

@arossp@mastodon.social @elfprince13@mumak.app @Popehat@mastodon.social So here's one area where I truly haven't been looking hard and perhaps you can educate me: In two-party contests, do more libertarians vote for Democrats, who support my niece having control of her reproductive organs, or Republicans, who want to give a male-dominated government a degree of decision-making power over her organs? Because being outspoken is nice and all, but the ballot box is the true test of whether you believe in freedom for all.

@SteveThompson@mastodon.social @potus@threads.net It would be funny to see Trump have to change all his cheesy "47" swag to "48."

@GramrgednAngel@beige.party Hello!!! How've you been? I've been mostly over on BlueSky. I sent you a message via Grammargeddon. My publisher wants to know who should get a free copy of my revised Best Punctuation Book, and yours was the first name to come to mind! I gave you my email address via Grammargeddon. If you send me your address, I'll add you to the "gets a free copy list." 🙂
