mastodon 4.7.3Encrypted Local-First Architecture
The European Commission is funding the ELFA consortium to build a local-first, end-to-end encrypted workspace suite. Core tools include documents, spreadsheets, email, calendar, chat, video calls, and more!

@humanhorseshoes@mastodon.world @artfulrobot@floss.social Yes. see the press release, accessible from the home page https://elfaconsortium.eu
@humanhorseshoes@mastodon.world @artfulrobot@floss.social We gathered spontaneously, knowing each other from the FOSS communities. We found complementarity, as each partner is responsible for their own area of development and expertise.
@lexinova@cyberplace.social For sure! (as already explained in another post earlier today. self-hosted Forgejo it will be. just didnt have time to install it. Hosted in Europe yes. The GitHub is just a placeholder for a read-only mirror) we see it eye to eye ;)
@humanhorseshoes@mastodon.world I am not aware of any data collection on our site.

Good question @sumek@hachyderm.io !
The suite of apps we are building is distinct from CryptPad and OnlyOffice.
It is not built "from scratch" because each partner in the consortium is bringing its work. Years of previous development is being gathered and assembled.
@CryptPad@social.xwiki.com is also with us because they will develop interoperability with our network, so their apps are compatible with our apps. For now OnlyOffice integration is not planned. We have @ironcalc@fosstodon.org for spreadsheets and @blocknote@fosstodon.org for text editor.
