Eirik Myhr 🎶 Composer

I guess it's time for an updated #Introduction: 🥁 Dear Fediverse! 🎶 I am a #composer of #theatre music and #filmmusic, living in the lovely woods of Asker, Norway. I've been lucky enough to make a living from this for 20 years, and constantly want to reinvent myself musically, or else I get bored real quickly. During one year, one project could be scored with a chamber orchestra, but the next one might be banjo punk. I was a pretty decent drummer once, but too impatient to stay in one band for very long. Today, I might release the occasional solo album or EP, but most of my releases are #soundtrack albums. As a music listener I'm into everything from #Bach to #Dvorak to #Genesis to #RATM, and everything in-between. 💿 I am #actuallyautistic and #ADHD. I have a four year old kid who I love more than the universe itself. I obsess over #StarWars and #EdvardGrieg more than what is probably considered healthy. I buy lots of CDs at flea markets and organise them all onto my wonderful #Plex server (another obsession!) Grew up with 90s PC adventure games from the likes of #LucasArts, and wish I had time to complete all those games I never got to finish, and replay all the ones I did. Thank heavens for @scummvm@manitu.social 👾 I detest fascist man-babies and evil tech-bros. In a continuous #degoogle process, one step at a time. Love #OSM and maps in general (seriously, another obsession?) Coffee needed to soothe brain. ☕ Website ➡️ https://eirikmyhr.no Bandcamp ➡️ https://eirikmyhr.bandcamp.com/

And then there's this #soundtrack from a #theatre production of #AstridLindgren's THE BROTHERS LIONHEART, from 2014. I actually think this album serves as a musical companion to Lindgren's beautiful original novel, regardless of this particular theatre production. Featuring a handpicked string quintet from The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, and myself on various keyboards and percussion. https://eirikmyhr.bandcamp.com/album/br-rne-l-vehjarte-original-theatre-soundtrack-for-det-norske-teatret #BandcampFriday

And now for something completely different – this #soundtrack from the Norwegian movie THE TOUGH GUYS (2013), which can only be described as epic western adventure gangster banjo punk. #Filmmusic blog Reel Music awarded this soundtrack "Best Comedy Score" in 2013, while admittedly awesome composers such as Alexandre Desplat were nominated in the same category. Certainly a pinch-me moment in my career. https://eirikmyhr.bandcamp.com/album/de-t-ffeste-gutta-original-soundtrack #BandcampFriday

@paulhebert That’s fantastic! Congratulations! Still really enjoying the game (although I have failed utterly at playing it daily, which was the initial plan 😅)

@totalclaireity Actually the first episode filmed after the pilot was s1e4, Infection :) @barometz

@Richard_Littler@mastodon.social Sounds exciting! But I think those in-jokes must be referring to Stockhausen’s lesser known colleague, Sockhausen.

@muz4now Phew! You and me both.

It's #Bandcampfriday again, already! Will this be the day you finally conclude that you need some more Norwegian theatre soundtracks, banjo punk or dystopian sc-ifi pop in your life? https://eirikmyhr.bandcamp.com

@CoMaps@floss.social That feature would be awesome. And - the main reason I am still on Organic Maps: The ability to display bookmark names on the map, I especially like having them to the right of the map point... If you bring this feature over to CoMaps, I'll be right onboard! :))
