@ionafyfe Almost completely unrelated, but the fediverse relies heavily on hashtags on posts to extend your reach. People will subscribe to tags like #scotland and #music and those posts would then appear in their home timeline. Sharing this as I only recently started to appreciate their power after almost 7 years of using mastodon 😭
