It's what I loved about raves and festivals when I started going to them - in the better sorts of events it feels like it's much more of a two-way process than simply a bunch of people rocking up to watch a band, and the punter/performer boundary is deliberately blurred. I think EMF does this better than any other event I've been to.

Any time I need to make an actual pot of tea I always say something like “Do you like my teapot? It’s three-dimensional, you know!” and people just look at me funny.

I now know what’s going on with all the “_placehold_placehold_placehold” business whenever you build a conda package and frankly I almost wish I didn’t. It’s hard to believe we still have to pull stupid tricks like this.

It also turns out that faffing around with microscope slides and aquadag is enormously messy and fiddly; honestly it's worth spending £15 to buy a well-made double-slit slide. The single slit in front of the torch you can do with tinfoil and a Stanley knife.

The next version of the LED harness was going to involve, I dunno, cooler patterns or something, but I'm very tempted to just rip out every single JST connector and replace with something more robust.
