@jenesuispasgoth @raymaccarthy Agreed. From a pure technical sense @mjg59 makes sense. But it ignores the massive ethical and environmental problems and these cannot be decoupled. The quality of the output is not relevant. It is going to get better. The ethical problems are not. Too many people opposed to LLMs concentrate on the ai-slop problem when they should be shouting about the ethical issues.

@LordCaramac@discordian.social You might want to look into running the software on an old linux version in a VM. Yes an old Linux is unsupported and probably full of security holes. Don't let the vm talk to the Internet and you should be fine.

@cks@mastodon.social I was about to "upgrade" isc dhcpd wtih kea until I saw that. New deployments will probably be dnsmasq instead. Which has its own problems. I have a hard time trusting a dev team that thinks json is a suitable format for a human edited config file. What other anti-pattern have they used?

He is using tariffs to get personal concessions/wealth from foreign leaders. His enablers don't care too much as long as they get to move forward with their fascist plans. Thinking he is an agent of a hostile government is wishful thinking. They run their misinformation campaigns to support him as long as his inept policies harm the west.

@mttaggart Not required to use LLM but it is strongly implied it will be a requirement soon. I asked for training. Turns out we have an internal "hello vibecode" guide. (It is actually not bad.) I haven't decided if I will stretch it out a few hours a week for the next 6 months, or do nothing for the next 4 weeks but "set up my coding environment." Bonus points: it was written for vscode. I use vim. I'm sure I can milk a few more weeks learning vscode and/or making it work with vim. 😆

@LordCaramac@discordian.social The oldest liveCD I could find was Debian5 from 2009. there are 3 binaries in the tgz. all from 1998!. one is windows the other two are linux.
