@patrick_h_lauke@mastodon.social @peter@thepit.social Very optimistic I know, it might just be latent NIMBYism, but I usually the billionaires are able to redirect angry people into writing screeds about how their kids will never have pronouns and the like, this anger seems totally uncontrolled by them.

Their behavior with AI, pumping trillions into it when all other software has been deliberately sabotaged over the past few years, the total disregard for users such as having screens where the only choices are "yes" and "ask again later", the monetisation of every single interaction to the point everything requires an app... Even if you could convince them AI is good it wouldn't matter. They hate the tech companies and want them destroyed.

@rysiek@mstdn.social The darkest thing about this will be when it starts to affect foreign policy. Within a decade the US will have a whole host of the fanciest weapons imaginable but won't be able to send to somewhere like Ukraine as the robots won't be willing to attack white people. Will be fully functional in the middle east though, with the occasional unfortunate friendly fire incident.

@tante@tldr.nettime.org I agree, but I also understand. We all have had to deal with coworkers that we think are a bit unreliable who need to be poked to get the answers you want, it's second nature for some people.
