🇵🇸🇺🇦
The difference between fascists and center-right parties these days is not one of direction, but speed. Fuck the "let's meet them halfway" attitude that threw the Overton window down a fucking fascist cliff.

@Jazone@theforkiverse.com @QasimRashid@mastodon.social Let them, they'll do it anyway (see Antifa, and people arrested for touching the paint on the reflecting pool). Then have them explain why Israelis have free healthcare and their constituents don't.

@Jazone@theforkiverse.com @QasimRashid@mastodon.social The platform clearly has appeal in Michigan and Maine as well, so while it's certainly not going to work nationwide, saying it has zero appeal outside of NYC is factually, provably false. As for the "Democrats support Hamas" thing… Support for Israel is at its lowest ever, for good reason. It's about time establishment Democrats read the room.

@Jazone@theforkiverse.com @QasimRashid@mastodon.social Being against financially supporting a foreign government committing genocide, instead of using those funds to help people at home, doesn't mean supporting Hamas, ffs. People aren't as dumb as to conflate the two anymore. It's also an incredibly popular position these days, whether you like it or not.

@Jazone@theforkiverse.com @QasimRashid@mastodon.social Well, all these years of Israel abusing that relationship have severely strained it, and while Gaza didn't affect the electorate's livelihood, the war with Iran certainly did. Look at the latest polls: 66% of democrats and 55% of independent voters think the US is too supportive of Israel. The top issues for those polled (regardless of party) were the high cost of living (70%) and health care (59%). "Socialist" is indeed still a scary word in the US, but their platform is absolutely addressing the electorate's concerns. Saying it has zero appeal outside NYC is wild. @lina@vt.social It feels like some people take their purity tests way too seriously, IMO. I understand that the way things are headed strong pushback is needed, but attacking / cutting off people who you're >75% in agreement with is not it.

@thekerker@mstdn.social @futzle@old.mermaid.town I was sad it took so long downthread to find someone mention the band, but a late single mention is much better than no mentions at all! Vheissu is a banger of an album.

@lina@vt.social Between the massive amounts of unmaintainable code being generated, junior devs not having the jobs that would give them the much needed experience, and the moral and financial hit on so much open-source software, AI's going to set us back years in the mid/long term.

@lina@vt.social Absolutely. It's not a new problem, either, but those people fail to learn from the left's past messaging / gatekeeping mistakes. It's ridiculous how most of the things we defend are popular with the general population, yet that infighting prevents us from becoming strong enough to promote actual change.

@m@miruku.cafe @lina@vt.social As long as you can handle the 90% you disagree with, absolutely! Echo chambers don't do us much good, indeed. But there are some disagreements that just aren't compatible with being friends with someone.

@typeswitch@gamedev.lgbt I wonder how much overlap in easily-to-type special characters there is over all the major keyboard layouts, though… I know this isn't happening anytime soon (for good reason), but in the case of Portuguese ç is a waste of a key; I'd love to see it assigned to alt-c, to open up a key.

Trigger warning: this post is about a positive side-effect of using coding AI.

Now that you've been warned…

One thing I hate about free-to-play mobile games is the "energy" system, where you can only play short periods at a time – and if you want to play more, you have to pay for it. It would make it feel like a waste to have the energy meter full, and I'd exhaust the meter every chance I had. It made gaming feel like work, and that's why I haven't played such games in years.

AI token usage feels similar. However, since I'm a freelance programmer with severe motivation issues, this "better use my tokens" thing actually made me work in the last few days, even though there's no looming deadline. Do some coding, use all tokens, go out and touch grass, get back to coding around the time my tokens reset, rinse and repeat.

Weirdly enough, being cheap's a good thing in this AI world I was dragged into.

@jensimmons@front-end.social Is WebKit opposed to the WebHID API, as it is to WebUSB? It's unfortunately a requirement in a web app I'm working on, and I hate that I have to require a Chromium browser. It's probably something very few people work with, but I'm curious about WebKit's direction.
