NGC 281 - Pacman Nebula is a bright emission nebula and part of an H II region in the northern constellation of Cassiopeia and is part of the Milky Way's Perseus Spiral Arm. Colloquially, NGC 281 is also known as the Pacman Nebula for its resemblance to the video game character.

The Whirlpool Galaxy, also known as Messier 51a (M51a) or NGC 5194, is an interacting grand-design spiral galaxy with a Seyfert 2 active galactic nucleus. It lies in the constellation Canes Venatici, and was the first galaxy to be classified as a spiral galaxy. It is 31 million light-years away and 76,900 light years in diameter.

NGC 7000 - North America nebula
This portion of the north America nebula is known as the Cygnus wall, in the constellation Cygnus. It's an emission nebula of ionised hydrogen with dark bands of interstellar dust. This region is where the most active star formation is happening around 2600 light years away.

Shot on Seestar S50 and processed in Siril and GIMP.

NGC 6992 - Eastern Veil nebula Another part of the massive Cygnus loop, a 20,000 year old remnant of a supernova that lies about 1500 light years away in the constellation Cygnus. This halo of gas and dust emits light because it is electrically charged (ionised) by the resulting radiation from the supernova. Seestar S50, processed in Siril and GIMP. Tools include RC-astro, SETI astro and Graxpert. #astrophotography #cloughjordan #darksky #deepsky #seestar_s50

M101 - Pinwheel Galaxy is a face-on, counterclockwise intermediate spiral galaxy located 21 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1781 and was communicated that year to Charles Messier, who verified its position for inclusion in the Messier Catalogue as one of its final entries.

M27 - The Dumbbell Nebula is a planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula, at a distance of about 1360 light-years. It was the first such nebula to be discovered, by Charles Messier in 1764. At its brightness of visual magnitude 7.5 and diameter of about 8 arcminutes, it is easily visible in binoculars and is a popular observing target in amateur telescopes.

The Crescent Nebula is an emission nebula in Cygnus, about 5000 light-years away from Earth. It is formed by the stellar wind from a Wolf-Rayet star colliding with and energizing the slower moving wind ejected by the star when it became a red giant around 250,000 years ago. The result of the collision is a shell and two shock waves, one moving inward. The inward moving shock wave heats the stellar wind to X-ray-emitting temperatures

The Triangulum Galaxy is a spiral galaxy 2.878 million light-years (ly) from Earth in the constellation Triangulum. It is catalogued as Messier 33 or NGC 598. With the diameter of 61,100 light-years, the Triangulum Galaxy is the third-largest member of the Local Group of galaxies, behind the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way.

M57 - Ring nebula
Different scopes for different folks... I had to experiment with this one because the ring nebula is so small in the sky. Different combinations of scope and camera determine the field of view.

Approximately 2,500 light years away in the constellation Lyra, the ring nebula is a planetary nebula. A leftover remnant of a dying star.

M56 is a Globular Cluster in the constellation Lyra and situated between Cygnus and Lyra. It's 32,000 light years away, so not really in our backyard.
Another one ticked off the Messier list, I suppose :)

Replying to
@Derek_DIY@mastodon.ie well, it's a (bad) composite. So, yes, technically straight from the camera, but it's made from two images with drastically different exposures. The moon may even be from a 250mm lens, while the foreground is a 56mm f1.4 Sigma lens, but I can't remember without looking at the file.
