@rbreich@masto.ai Yes, Robert, the first problem is that you posted *a picture of a message* from your Bluesky account and didn't even add any Alt text. Call me an asshole if you want, but why not just post the same message to your Mastodon account? If Mastodon is an afterthought for you, just close your account and save yourself the trouble.

RE: https://mstdn.ca/@dbattistella/116840120508755510 6,000 years ago, someone invented toilet breaks at work, then a baldy wazzock with a lazy eye and a penchant for being an absolute dick came along and made his staff piss in bottles at their work stations. #BoycottAmazon

The problem with Jeff Bezos' ideology is that it's based on a false premise. The idea that "6,000 years ago someone invented the plow" is based on a faulty belief that ancient humans functioned as individuals. They did not. Ancient humans were collectivist. Archeological evidence demonstrates that for hundreds of thousands of years, early humans congregated around communal gathering places, like the fire, and engaged in problem solving and passing on of shared learning down through generations. Additionally, the plow (and tools like it) were developed by humans in Mesopotamia, Europe, Egypt, East Asia, sub-Saharan Africa as well as other places - not in one place by one person. This is known as parallel development. Believing that the plow was invented by one 'genius' is like believing language was invented by one person. It is a silly myth and represents the projection of current moral standards onto past events. Collectivism is how we both survived and progressed as a species. #HumanEvolution #genius

@Peter_Link I don't think the headline covers the main thrust of the article, and gives a misleading impression that Britain is trying to ship parts to Israel that it shouldn't. The parts were shipped by an American company in Britain and were not properly declared. Britain stopped 30 export licences in September 2024, and it's likely this shipment needed one but didn't have it. I'd say this was America fiddling rather than anything Britain specifically did, but happy to be corrected.

@stux@mstdn.social I've saidit before and I'll say it again: The problem with the US system of government is they can appoint completely unelected people into office. In Miller's case, no one elected him, but here he is destroying the lives of thousands/millions of Americans based on his own evil ideology. No one would've voted for him or his plans.

I don't understand how Joe Rogan has the/one of the most viewed/listened to podcasts in the world?

Each time I see a clip of it he just comes across as really dumb, and sycophantic to his awful guests.

Then there's some guy with a moustche (don't know his name), and some other guy who sits there with sunglasses on and a baseball cap.

What's the draw with these 'manosphere' wazzocks?

If I want to hear fuckwits talking bollocks I'll go to a pub at 9pm on a Tuesday.

eBay users: "Can you lower your price? I'm buying this for my [daughter|niece]'s birthday."

Me: "Sorry, no. The price is set at the amount needed to pay for medical treatment for my [daughter|niece]."

No, Rachel, you carry on.

Take that £2 a month from people trying their best to save a bit of money.

Don't bother attempting to tax companies like Amazon who game the system.

Or Apple.

Or Meta.

Or Starbucks.

Or any of the other massive twatty companies fleecing the UK public.

You go after the little guy.

They can't fight back.

That's precisely why you do it.

Cannot wait for you to be sacked, you rubbish Chancellor.

@gerrymcgovern@mastodon.green AI chatbots always give you an answer, even if it's wrong, because they *have* to give you an answer. If they were told to give you some sort of confidence score, say, "I'm 60% confident this is correct", you wouldn't use them. You'd just do your own research. You wouldn't base your results on source data that was possibly 60% truthful, right? So they don't tell you how crappy their answers are because if they told you their answers were crap you wouldn't use them.

@ShredderLivesOn So Reform are now saying that single men or women should pay more tax? From what age? 16? 18? Gay couples should pay more tax? Infertile couples who cannot have children should pay more tax? Does this end at a certain age? Do 80 year old women have to pay more tax because they can't have children? Reform's policies are - and I'm sorry that I have to go low with this - FUCKING DUMB. Reform should never be in government. They are incapable of leading the UK.

Your daily reminder - should you fucking need it - that, after Donald Trump was inaugurated for an inexplicable second time, Mark Zuckerberg said it was okay to call gay people "mentally ill" on his platforms (WhatsApp, Facebook, Threads, Instagram).

If you know any LGBTQIA+ people, or follow people like Stephen Fry, George Takei on here, watch Ru Paul's Drag Race, Smoggie Queens, or anything of a queer nature, and still use any of Zuckerfuck's platforms, you are feeding his hatred.

Stop it.

Everyone is praising Andy Burnham as some sort of saviour, but I'm yet to see any concrete policies from this Johnny-come-lately.

He won 24,937 votes in one by-election. He didn't stand as the leader of Labour and put in any of the hard work to win a general election.

At the risk of creating a phrase:

He's not the messiah, he's a very northern boy.

@stux@mstdn.social I have some apps on the iOS App Store. One has an in-app purchase, but the app is perfectly useful without it, it's just limited to 3 'things' rather than about 5,000. I barely get any sales anyway, definitely not enough to cover the annual developer fee. Two others are free games that have been on the store since it launched in 2008, and I keep updating them for free. They do not and have never had ads because the user experience is horrible.
