We have a truly corrupt government here in Ontario. Dough Ford must have some serious dirt to hide the way he is working overtime to shield himself from Freedom of Information legislation. A very rare late night sitting in the provincial legislature is happening as I type this with the Ford govt trying to exempt Doug from any transparency or scrutiny. Please speak up and see that this doesn't come without a cost to them.

I didn't expect all that much--and I didn't vote for the Liberals--but Carney has been even worse than I would have imagined, especially when it comes to climate policy. In fact, Carney "doing nothing" would have been preferable to the environmental backsliding we've seen. Regardless, many on the right still view him as a socialist or even a communist (lol), perhaps because his conservatism isn't as blatantly vindictive and anti-intellectual as those further to the right. #MarkCarnage #nationburning #CanPoli

I'll have to give this a listen. There is also a fairly recent podcast series on Fela titled Fela Kuti: Fear No Man. I saw his sons Femi play 1X and Seun play 2X (Seun Kuti with the Egypt 80 band was AMAZING).

This is another completely wrong headed move from Doug Ford. For what it is worth, I've noticed far fewer discarded needles lying around the city after supervised consumption sites came to London, ON--with the added bonus of the lives saved. (Would it be preferable to have fewer people mired in addiction? Certainly, but removing supports and making the lives of people caught in this struggle even more dangerous isn't a solution.)

@rodneylives@mefi.social I started using Tuta Mail as I was looking for something that isn't hosted in the US.

OK, here's a short update on the status of spring Covid boosters for children in my part of Ontario. The local health unit told me that after a certain point, they were only providing Covid vaccinations for children four years and under as that group was not being served by local pharmacies. However, they stopped being able to do even that when provincial funding dried up and the province stopped sending them vaccinations. In my experience, while local pharmacies might let you schedule Covid vaccinations online for children, there is a chance that people will be told that nothing is available for the under twelve age group upon arrival. The advice I ultimately received was to go to the provincial website (https://www.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations/) and start contacting the pharmacies listed. You'll need to call/speak to a pharmacist--not just book online--to see if they have Covid boosters for younger people. The person I spoke with cautioned that I might not be able to find anything until the fall. #Covid #LondonOntario

@darckcrystale@pipou.academy @arra@kolektiva.social Thank you! I'm going to start with checking in with the local health unit in town. They weren't that helpful in the past when trying to get spring boosters, but I'll try again.

The US is targeting water desalination infrastructure in Iran. Imagine the outrage if/when Iran responds in kind to US allies in this area
