I just received the contracts from Suicide Squeeze Records for the re-release of some things I performed on in the 1990s. Weird!

2 week post
I wasn’t affected by recent layoffs at $JOB but so many folks reached out to check in from across my career. Y’all are wonderful and appreciated.
I find it strange that the standard operating procedure when encountering a billionaire’s yacht isn’t to spray paint a giant penis on the side.
Looking for tips: what's the best tool for enriching billionaires at the expense of your mental health, the environment, your community, and your family? Bonus points if you also have to pay for it.
Please, won’t somebody like my toots? My children are starving.
The moral arc of the tech industry:
- I want to build something that does good.
- I want to build something for good and also get rich.
- I want to get rich and also do good.
- I want get rich and people to think I'm good.
- Being rich is proof that I'm good.
- The bad things I'm doing are for the greater good.
- Good is subjective – the people who don't like me are bad.
- Wealth and power are all that matter.
Just going to stop you right there because I found the problem
I need an alias of `git` called that accepts an arbitrary 4th character so that commands like `gitp ush` work
Just got a new MacBook from work. Trying to immediately downgrade it to Sequoia.
People being big sad that their AI boosterism fails here is absolutely hilarious.
Them concluding that it spells disaster for Mastodon is :chefs-kiss:
“Everyone likes dog turds! Dog turds are the future!!!!”
We build expertise through a long process of learning from small errors.
We stub our toe over and over again. The consequences are small, and by the time we've built something complex we're able to navigate all of the little gotchas, and have the expertise to be confident in what we've built.
With an #LLM we skip all of that: we learn very little along the way, and don't really know what we've built. When something (inevitably) goes wrong, instead of stubbing our toe we lose an entire leg.
Today I bought some new SA profile keycaps for the ol #mechanicalkeyboard........ and now I wait.
I love crossword puzzles.
I find that I don't have the time to solve them all, so now I've written up a set of Claude Skills to solve them for me.
On Sunday morning I review the week's puzzles to make sure they're all correct.
Originally they were like, almost all wrong.
So now I have another Claude Skill to check them on Saturday night so that on Sunday morning I can just admire the completed stack.
I like this. "Vibe coded" as in, lacks coherence, depth, or any guarantee of correctness, but naively confident nonetheless.
Billionaires desperately want a Manhattan Project approach to building AI data center capacity instead of a Manhattan Project approach to dealing with climate change.
I have tried to explain this to people so many times. The lure of the one armed test bandit is too strong.
> you have to read the test code, the code under test, and also all the other code that might call the code under test. Aka you have to read everything. And rather than reading something that was written to be read, you're wading through a slop swamp. So you can't. It takes more time than just writing it.
jesus christ do not give claude a pet name have you ever heard of engagement hacking
One 9 is the new five 9s in this brave new world.
Patiently waiting for Sourceforge to announce their acquisition of Github.
I wonder if getting a ban on OS-level age verification in another state/country on privacy grounds could essentially cripple the effort?
It feels a lot like we've decided to pin the entire economy on subprime mortgages.
Now that LLMs are infecting every facet of work, I’m going to have to completely separate work computer from non-work data and systems. I feel like getting owned by one of the supply chain attacks is only a matter of time.
Seems weird that these billionaires are subsidizing every line of code generated by every startup right now. It's probably fine though right.
92% of modern software architecture is "we did a bunch of dumb shit with this new technique that this new technique solves".
But remember to donate to the TSA foodbank. They're really great people who need our help in these trying times.
