This morning's light at sunrise.

I like the horizontal pupils of horses. I didn't know there were so many different shapes. Cuttlefish for instance have W-shaped pupils!

Then I'll show you this idiot who likes ripping up his (expensive) blanket and forcing his only friend to play with him.
The wood stove is our heat source. There's not enough space close by, so the dog suffers in silence the presence of our loathsome cat, who's looking at me scornfully, trying to guilt-trip me into believing I have not yet fed her. But it's a lie!
My partner hates my cat, so for her birthday I gave her these framed portraits.
Half of us thought it was funny.
When I feed the chickens, the local birds take advantage. Sparrows, tits, doves. I saw one of my hens yesterday trying to shoo away a crow. And here's a jackdaw.

Like everyone else, I started making bread during the pandemic. Unlike most, I haven't stopped. :)
A beautiful picture from @roshn.me (https://bsky.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:chhhmvy33f7zjq3djej5vy2w/post/3mjygyj4xqt2o) reminded me of one I took of an egret in my garden.
You have to admit that's an ugly bird. And I'm not just saying that because it ate all the fish in my pond, that bastard!
While I'm mentioning chicken, each egg must pass a thorough inspection before entering the kitchen.
Debarked a log from a tree I felled a while back. Had to cut down plenty because they were sick. A bark beetle epidemic in the area halved wood production.
Anyway, you can see the intricate tunnel system they dug under the bark. I read the book The Surprising Lives of Bark Beetles, open to being convinced that they're actually great bugs not worth setting up traps for. I wasn't convinced.
