I forgot this one: If you end up really missing your companion, you could plan something nice for them when they get back, too. (Cook *their* favorite meal, or pick them up a LEGO set or … you know, whatever they'd enjoy.)

You deserve a nice treat, something you really really enjoy.
You also deserve to have space that's comforting for you, to escape to. If you've been putting off cleaning or decorating your room, consider this a gentle push in that direction. (Though that could wait until she's back, if you want. Use the whole space while she's away.)

@juliette@mastodon.green Mom tried to teach me to cook, but she had no patience for a newbie. (I couldn't estimate amounts on my palm, for instance, and wanted to know it was "a quarter teaspoon" if the recipe said "a dash.")
Dad probably didn't think of yard/flower bed maintenance as a hobby, but he did insist that I help with it. 😁
Has your academic (or similar) library stopped using LibGuides?
Would you be willing to talk to my colleagues and me about the transition and what you're doing now — the decision-making process, time saved (or not saved), whether something else took the place of guides, etc.?

I do something *I* really enjoy. I make a meal I love but my spouse doesn't, without guilt. I visit a spot I enjoy more than my spouse does (he's a forest guy, I'm a water thude). I turn up my music and sing along (which I do when he's here, too, but usually with a bit more restraint).
