I took this photo of my kid playing with his blocks the other day, and when I realized it reminded me of something, well...I had to make this.

I have a lot of thoughts on AI.
I've been working on this post for a couple of months now. It's very personal, characteristically lengthy, and sure to be at least somewhat controversial. Take it (or don't) as you will.
What a year it's been. This post includes my usual "things I enjoyed this year" list, but it's also an autobiographical look back at a wild ride of a year in my personal life.
Companies: "Coding is dead. AI writes all the code now."
Applicants: "Great! So this means we don't have to do code challenge interviews anymore?"
Companies: "You might hear back from us if you can rebuild the entire NYT games section, complete with unit tests, in 30 minutes all by yourself on the first try. Please save your questions until then."
Me: God, please show me how I fit into your plan.
God: Oh I have no idea, bro. I just had AI do it all for me.
Me: You... You had AI...
God: Make the universe, yeah. The whole thing.
Me: ...
God: ...
Me: ...Well I guess that kinda explains some things.
God: Oh yeah, no, totally.
Working theory: parents actively involved in raising young children are less likely to be enthusiastic about AI, since repeating the same set of instructions over and over only to have them forgotten, ignored, or abandoned partway through is already way too much of our lives.
2025 may just (barely) be the year that I (finally) remove Sass from my website.
idk man, it kinda seems like the time AI is saving you and the time you spend online talking about it are kind of a wash
View transitions are mind-blowing. The absolute trivial amount of JavaScript it takes to make this shuffling effect work is astounding.
I mean, I actually spend more lines *changing the background color* than I do moving elements around! 🤯
@thibaultamartin@mamot.fr @pojntfx@mastodon.social The Glove80 isn't vertical by default, but it's made to be hooked up to accessories to enable that. In my experience, though, it's comfortable enough that you don't really need much tenting, etc.
I used a Moonlander with the Platform add-on to do vertical for a while, and it worked well, but I concluded that vertical wasn't a net positive, at least in my case. The benefit of keeping your wrists neutral is offset by the strain of constantly suspending your hands in the air without a resting place, and over time that became a problem for me.
Ergonomics are very personal, though, so YMMV.
