Just want to check in and let all y'all know I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth. Not yet.
Lovely peeps, what'd I miss?
Slowly easing myself back into posting and replying to things here.
Let's see, what shall I report?
Oh, heading to the annual tattoo convention tomorrow. Gonna see different inks, appreciate the art, and see if any inspiration strikes. Will have a cool time collecting stickers in any case.
DJ was taken to the doggie hotel already. It felt weird not being begged for head scritches all evening while I was winding down.
A colleague mentioned spotting "milk latte" as an item on our lunch delivery menu today.
Me: Isn't that just "milk milk"?
("Latte" doesn't mean a milky coffee in Italian. It's just "milk". Likewise, "soy latte" shouldn't mean coffee made with soy milk. It should just mean soy milk itself and be written as "latte di soia".)
(If I sound pedantic about it, blame my other half for the bad influence.)
(But not that much bad influence: I am perfectly fine with pineapple on pizza.)
Job titles I learned back when I was studying Italian:
• barista (bartender)
• commercialista (accountant)
• elettricista (electrician)
• tassista (taxi driver)
Job title I didn't learn back when I was studying Italian:
• vaticanista (Vatican correspondent)
