I've been on the internet longer than you have. This makes me more boring than you are. Topics of interest: programming, Rust, technical leadership, cats, electronic music, computer gaming, mechanical keyboards, fiction, writing.
I enbloggenated. Nothing new here, but a shorter more punchy version of something I've written about before because I keep struggling to land this one.
Imagine me running around a stage saying
problem statements
problem statements
problem statements
while sweating through my polo shirt
It's a bit hard to reconcile “LLMs are useless snake oil" with “LLMs have killed the 90-day disclosure window”.

The 1970s was the last time all the lines were going in the correct direction in the US. Various individual lines have gone upward despite the horror show Reagan set in motion, and we had a bit of a tick upward in the Obama administration.
What's going on now is a different category of change. It's all an omnishambles. The damage is going to take decades to undo. If someone’s response to that is to say that it has always sucked, then they're too ignorant to take seriously.
Fellow fans of Tom Lehrer, genius (RIP), will enjoy this, which I have just encountered on the yootoobz:
so ANYWAY I just cannot get over some things sometimes
my team is awesome
other things are very not
writing software is awesome
corporations are very not
nothing can be done about it, not really
Me: Our boss the VP wants my thing to get an architecture review.
David: A what?
Me: Has she ever asked you for that?
David: Are you kidding?
Me: That's what I thought.
David: Do what I'd do. Say "what?" and then ignore it.
Elvis needs goats
Elvis needs goats
Elvis Elvis Elvis Elvis Elvis need goats
Elvis is everywhere
Thinking about proposing that $employer stop relying on GitHub for several important services and wondering how much trauma this will cause.
Fezzik: Hello you are holding me.
Ceej: Ye-- oof.
Fezzik: Now you are not.
Ceej: I was a launch point.
Fezzik: I'm on the cat baking sheet. It's bake time. I love that you keep this warm spot for me.
Ceej: That's my gaming PC.
Fezzik: zzzzzzzzz
"finally a fucking role model"
The absolute chaos I’m watching in $project is making me think longing thoughts about startups.
It's not a project I'm involved in at the moment, but MAN is it bad. Very very very bad. Willy Wonky chin on hands bad.
Twitching: if you're going to do slow transitions between tracks, you're going to need to do it between tracks in related keys.
I beg you.
I have linked this one before but it is still true that listening to this one while off your face is about as genx an experience as it gets
Me: I’m falling asleep! This is annoying!
Ego: It's 1am, DUH.
Superego: Work in the morning, I guess, if you feel like it, which honestly, why do we want that, again?
Me: Some superego you are.
Id: We could stay up later.
Me: But we’re nodding off.
Id: Oh. Right. I'm supposed to be in favor of falling asleep.
Me: Screw up. Sleep. But we brush our teeth first, to make superego happy.
Ego: You realize Freudian analysis is pure bullshit, right?
Me: Yeah yeah yeah. Shut up.
I live to write this THING and to noodle with the synths.
Well, and to work on the personal software project that the world needs but almost certainly _will not use_ because it would rather write frothing blog posts about supply-chain attacks than actually take steps to prevent them.
Today was *really weird* but in a random coincidence kind of way that is actually awesome.
Current status: Finally stopped working. I have NO IDEA what tomorrow's “architecture review" is supposed to accomplish.
Now drinking whisky and patting a cat.
So... today I happened to stumble onto a live stream for one of the youtube musicians I left a nice comment for yesterday and this person *remembered my name* and this was FANTASTIC and I recommend this experience.
The stream was this one:

Go be wonderful to this person.
Today was weird. I got lots of things done, at least. Now I am going to do something entirely frivolous and useless that does not enrich any corporate master in any way.
The reader count has gone up to 20. TWENTY.
Amazing.
That that, capitalism
Fezzik: HELLO. You are holding me now.
Ceej: I am.
Fezzik: You will rub my belly now.
Ceej: Okay, no problem. It's Caturday. You get the bellyrub.
Fezzik: Also I will drool on you.
Ceej: Look, can't you just walk to the food place and push your button like you know how to do?
Fezzik: No.
You may refer to me as Ceej “Two Cats" Silverio.
You may refer to Fezzik as Fezzik “Zero Moles" Cat.
I was _very upset_ he brought a mole to me tonight. The mole was rescue and toted outside alive, but I am unsure it will survive. Fezzik is not nearly as gentle as Oswin is about bringing live game in to the hapless humans to practice with.
I wrote my own letter supporting this picket line. FYI.
I donated. A worthy cause.
Gamestop makes unsolicited offer for eBay.
What world do I live in.
using an LLM is like discussing an idea with an infinitely patient colleague who has bottomless knowledge of every topic in the world.
Yes, this. And isn't going to mock you or yell at you for having forgotten a fact briefly. The feedback will be constructive; the corrections will be gentle; your work will be improved. Claude Code is many things, but "asshole" is not one of them.
Very oblique spoiler but the plotline with the guy who made sets for the extremely famous Pittsburgh PBS TV show has absolutely gutted me and I now need to stop watching.
Carry on with your Sunday evenings / Monday mornings.
Pretty good, actually.
Completely soaked cat is soaked, wet, and grooming himself.
