For the past few weeks, I’ve been making an iOS app called Kandili. It’s an app that brings to life the Orthodox liturgical calendar, readings, and feast days; with custom typography and handcrafted design. It’s pretty niche, but I had a lot of fun making it and I’m excited to share it with y’all. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/kandili/id6759779981
Gnome is a *very* fun app. If you like animated GIFs (who doesn’t?), you owe it to yourself to give it a try: https://lexfriedman.com/gnome/
My youngest had friends over for his 13th birthday last night. How do 13 year olds really party? They started assembling a desk.
RE: @incomparable@zeppelin.flights
In my hosting debut on The Incomparable mothership, @siracusa@mastodon.social @BenRiceM@mastodon.social and @ThatChipGuy@zeppelin.flights go very deep on the video game, Arc Raiders - a video game where you can be nice to people. Or not.
When my youngest turned 13 this weekend I created a venmo account. This is one of the things he looked forward to the most about being 13. After I did this, Venmo suspended my entire family’s accounts. What a thrilling birthday present to him!
Monday was my last day at Chewy. Taking a couple weeks before starting the *next thing*. My list of things to do in the in-between times is long, so not too worried about getting stir crazy.
Just fired up a Pixel phone to test an Android version of Kandili. Yowza! If you have any interest in beta testing it let me know!
I just heard about another company using take-home design assignments as a part of the interview process. This spec work is unethical and a terrible way to evaluate candidates. Immediate red flag. Get your free ideas somewhere else, bozos.
Terminator 2 with a first timer!
It’s been a couple weeks working on Kandili, with several updates and plenty more testflight builds. Here are my findings:
1) The App Store is 100% as inscrutable as it’s reputation.
2) Building apps is very fun. I get it now.
3) I’d forgotten how fun it is to have a little fun side project all my own.
That was such a joyous halftime show. 💯🎉
@Gte@mastodon.social He said, “Oooohh yeah that’s cool!”
There’s a reason he's called The Boss. Listen to Bruce!
Now in week two of waiting for iOS app review. I’ve been told it always takes longer the first time, but dang this is painful.
@jonhicks@mastodon.social Now that it's been a few months, how have you been adapting to full-time working from home? Any tips you can share? I'm about to do the same.
Some of Sorkin’s finest work yet!
At long last, @lexfri@hachyderm.io and I covered the finale of Sports Night, but worry not my friends, we are not finished with Sorkin’ In It just yet.
