German discount supermarket Lidl is offering a 2.24 kWh plug-in battery for just €299.

This should not replace 'dependence on oil' with 'dependence on imported vehicles'. French car makers should produce 400,000 EVs a year (2027) and one million by 2030
-
Up to €100,000 of support for electric commercial/HDVs for SMEs
-
Dedicated measures for industry and agrifood, such as ovens

Doubling down on electric mobility:
-
The social leasing scheme, which helps lower-income households switch to an EV, returns in June with double the capacity (2 x 50,000 cars)
-
On top of this, support will be provided for an additional 50,000 EVs for 'frequent drivers' in the middle classes

A new data release from Eurostat shows just how much the public #EV charging network in Europe has improved in recent years. A single charging point doesn’t make spring, but a network certainly does. More and more Europeans now have five or more charging points within a relatively short distance.
In much of north-western Europe, even within 3 kilometres. Coverage with multiple charging points in the vicinity has improved significantly, particularly in the north, east and south-east.
Aldi Suisse has inaugurated 🇨🇭 Switzerland's largest rooftop solar installation, with a capacity of 10 MWp / 8 GWh, at its distribution centre in Domdidier.

Last year, Norway passed the milestone of more battery-electric cars on the road than diesel cars
"Australian households and businesses installed more rooftop solar last month than in any other month on record"
Changes to the Cheaper Home Batteries Program may have "triggered a surge in battery demand with a meaningful flow-on effect to solar.”

France 🇫🇷: “New electric cars account for 28% of the market, up 69%, driven by the increased eco-bonus via the CEE scheme and price cuts introduced by several manufacturers. [..] Sales of used electric cars have risen by 47%”
Spotted the European Sleeper night train to Paris while walking around Berlin yesterday.

Interest in second-hand electric cars is growing in many markets, including Romania, Portugal and other countries. And interest in, results in…
Sales of used electric cars in the Netherlands were up 48% in March compared to February. This is an increase of 98% compared to a year earlier.

France 🇫🇷 is aiming to increase the number of high-power public EV charging points alongs the main routes:
By 2035
22,000 150 kW chargers for 🚗 at 900 motorway locations
8,000 chargers for 🚚🚛 (mix of 800, 400 kW and 100 kW for long-duration) at
560 motorway locations

"Don't punish the pioneers"
The slow transition from combustion engines to EVs is putting pressure on the German car industry. However, unlike the German government, innovators in the sector wish to stick to the European CO2 targets (for 2035 and the path towards them).
Sales of second-hand electric cars in Sweden 🇸🇪 have risen by 51%, whilst sales of diesel cars have fallen by 20%. In fact, 25% more second-hand electric cars were sold than diesel cars.

I still enjoy seeing this as a historical record: a 2012 atlas showing the public EV charging points that existed in Amsterdam at the time

France 🇫🇷: « Les voitures neuves électriques représentent 28 % du marché, en hausse de 69 %, sous l’effet du bonus écologique revalorisé via les CEE et des baisses de prix pratiquées par plusieurs constructeurs.

This is a very interesting initiative from Australia that deserves widespread attention: 18 requirements for consumer energy resource (CER) devices to support interoperability and resilience. It also considers whether these are already covered by current standards.
SOFICO, 🇧🇪 Wallonia’s infrastructure investment arm, will facilitate a significant expansion of public #EV charging infrastructure along the TEN-T main routes over the next five years:
- grid connections will be initiated in anticipation of demand (and the tendering of charging locations), where possible in combination with local renewable energy generation
- tenders are being prepared for public charging points at various types of locations along the motorways
Google Earth now has a new cycling trip share layer, which allows making international comparisons. E.g. cycling requires Dutch (or Low Saxon) language skills, or Japanese: Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto are on par with Dutch cities on cycling trip share
