@nxadm@infosec.exchange it is too pricey for what it is, but of course the real situation will turn out after the first round of sales. The initial sales will be good and maybe alteady sold out so that will be misleading.
As for the deck, the only handheld with inferior hw feasible for me is the Nintendo stuff, but they have the advantage of having awesome games and also the first party stuff is heavily optimized to balance the lack of real power. Although if I am at home, I play it on the larger screen.

I rarely do handheld at home. IIRC I did it mostly when I was replaying BoTW for the gazillionth time
I’m not big on the PC stuff, but I’ve decided to have a new build after a decade old one, recently. Still undecided on a GPU on that, yet, but it will happen eventually. I also have a PS5 though. So the visuals can be the deciding factor for that, but PC is currently at the bottom. I prefer consoles as I am also collecting physical media.

TIL: U.S.U.R.A. ripped off this song for their "Open Your Mind". The name of the track is also a sample from Kuato / #TotalRecall but I knew that from the start, at least.

The major difference seems to be the brigtness. In videos , G6 & C6 usually look identical. G6 seems to have a better color correctness, but that's only slightly noticeable. Checking out at the shop might give some idea, however they also usually playback fancy videos not giving a proper impression on those. Brightness could compete with CRTs perhaps 🤔

Printers, they really are a relic of the past, but still needed. What's worse is that the ethernet port now disappeared and one needs to deal with the vendor's idiocy of mishandling wifi. The things (in general) only support 2.4GHz and #Epson specifically seems to be sensitive to what the channel number is. New routers can also operate on triple bandwidths with the same SSID, so the solution was to create an IOT guest network with only 2.4GHz with a different name. Now it connects and visible.

@clonezone@mastodon.social yeah, there is that. However, the image of him is far greater that the man himself. He was The Pop Phenomenon, in the 80s. Nobody ever came close, not even himself, after that decade. I agree that he was extremely weird (from far away) that’s for sure, but then again these also stay as allegations. I know that it is extremely hard to challenge an icon of that stature though, especially when he’s dead.
I don’t expect much from this movie, it is likely a lightweight popcorn event.

Time to ditch the 12yo TV. It has 3D, but I don't recall utilizing it for the last 3 years and it doesn't support the fancy new audio codecs. New consoles are problematic with that.

Steam Machine seems to be a flop before any real person (like non-youtubers) is able to get one and some will buy anyways. Cute, but not that cute and underpowered. I didn’t even get a Steam Deck as the hardware was also inferior on that. I might reconsider the deck if they release a new version, but that also seems unlikely with the crazy chip prices elevating every single component to jump to ridiculous heights for the foreseeable future.
