@alice@lgbtqia.space In my day job I do medical history research, and one thing I repeat to my partner is an addage that goes something like "if you look at any practice in the united states, you can probably lead it back to eugenics."
Now they're barely trying to hide it. 🤮

I'm trying to get an outfit so I can go to pride later this month, and I'd love some heeled (maybe 2-3 inch) boots for the look I'm going for.

@buffyleigh@mas.to I am listening to the recent Wedding Present KEXP Session while writing, and I'm now looking forward to queueing the Just Mustard session next! Great to hear that they're great (I was going to say they rock, but do shoegazers rock? Am I misunderstanding shoegaze??)

It's so interesting to me how normal everything feels.
Like, I was excited to try painting my nails today, but when I was done like my brain was just like *this is nice* *I like the color* *it fits me* *I'd like to do this again*.

I was thinking about some of the masc presenting grooming/styling standards in relation to how I feel today, and it is like "usually I dread this or do it compulsorily" so the *this is nice* vibes is like a new feeling.
*it is nice*

@steff@soc.femme.cat “ Remember: gender is mostly what we feel good in and how we feel presenting and thinking about ourselves. There’s absolutely nothing bad about expressing some femininity regardless of your gender identity.”
Thanks so much for saying this. It really helps. I’ll do my best to remember this as I explore and reflect.
And thanks too for the practical advice 😊

I think this is a lovely idea. I haven't been thinking about underwear so much (partly I think because it feels like a very big step in my head and I don't know how I feel). But as I write that, I am thinking maybe that's a worth while exploration. Especially because my gut is like, maybe that's too far, but in reflection it might be good to explore those boundaries.

That preamble in focus, I am wondering if anyone here might have suggestions for small, baby steps you took, or would recommend I take, when it comes to gender expression?
Or, any advice in how best to tread in a moment that feels very vulnerable but also very open with possibility?

I've been fumbling the interviews on this job hunt, but some of it is because I get so over worried about only getting once per 10 or so applications. It has been getting in my head.

There is one BIG problem: One of the essays is on Michel Foucault (that abusive bastard), which means I have a pile of his books on my desk.

I don't actually need to reread much of it, but there is one book (Madness and Civilization) which I need to go through, and one essay (where he talks about age of consent laws) that I need to interlibrary loan.
I really don't want to read either, but I need to for the essay.

This song is breaking my brain (in a good way).
I can't tell if the bells are actually bells or a very good synth facsimile.
Oh and it's a bop. Giving hard Sylvan Esso vibes (in the synth design) and then hypnotic, understated vocals.

I do like the idea of having something small that can be a signal of comfort like a pin. I am going to have to brainstorm what might be a good fit for me where I am right now.
I think some of my apprehension is that I haven't discussed this much with my partner. (Who would 100% be in my corner, but who I am concerned might not tell others while I'm still getting my grip on how I want to explore and present.) When I've brought up traditionally non-masculine activities, she tends to blow them off unless they are things she wants to do already. (This is a me problem: she can't read my mind, but it makes me feel uncomfortable.)
(Sorry to add all of this extra weight to the response! It is a bit more of the subtext about how and why I'm feeling unsure right now.)

@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt I want anti-AI folx to just start to add mentions of goblins in their writing, to prove that they don't use AI.
It can be a reverse of how AI ruined em dashes for the rest of us. Instead of removing the em dash we add in goblins. Goblins everywhere.
