Friends,
I've officially killed my Second Brain (PKM system) and will be sharing more about this in a writeup for the newsletter in due time.
Now I'm curious: what distraction-free apps do you use to *write*? iA writer? Bear app? Obsidian? something else? Bonus points for apps that use local .md files
"After the #AI Hype – What's Real, and What's Next"

I agree with all the comments under this video: this is one of the best talks and perspectives on AI that I have heard/seen.
And it's quite uplifting for a change!

40 and more consistent with my workouts than ever. 💪🏻
Anyway... I wanted to record a "cute" video of me asking my birb 🐦 what he thought of today's workout session. This is what I got.
For what it's worth, I disagree—it was a very good and challenging session.
Good morning and you're welcome. 😇
I had Parallels Desktop with a Windows VM open with multiple browsers open inside of that + the settings panel & other things for testing/screen recording for a new blog post I'm working on (finally!)
I shut down my laptop last night (a new habit I'm adopting lol) and forgot I had all that open. 🥲
I was pleasantly surprised to that *everything* re-opened when I started macOS today: Parallels *and* every single thing I had open inside of it—even the settings I was playing with.
*happy dance*
Pinterest turned from an app for inspiration to an app full of AI slop. I wished for a way to stop AI-generated images from appearing and thought how nice this would be for everything else on the web.
I wish browsers provided a button that blocks all AI-generated content—images, articles, etc.
The HTML and elements, the HTML Invoker Commands API, the View Transitions API + Progressive enhancement == *chefs kiss*

Lovely post from @rikschennink@mastodon.social
Here's @adactio@mastodon.social applauding the Safari/Webkit team for meaningful new releases in Safari 27 👏🏻 https://adactio.com/journal/22609
...and on the other hand rightfully calling out Google's disregard for what devs really want and instead pushing out damaging new tech just because it can and wants to 👌🏻
Friends,
I'm looking for a good anti-blue filter/screen for my MacBook.
Do you use something like this? Is it good? Does it compromise display quality? Do you recommend it?
I don't want anti-blue eyeglasses and am looking for something to stick to my screens instead.
Any tips you might share?
In my conversation with @kevinpowell@front-end.social a few weeks ago I mentioned that one of the ways to get people to care about #accessibility is to help them understand it better. And one way to help them understand it better is to debunk common accessibility myths.
This post by the folks at @TetraLogical@a11y.social is a fantastic article that debunks common misconceptions about screen readers (& their users)

Highly recommended read. #a11y

OK so looks like I will be moving away from Codepen for my live demos—particularly those in my accessibility course—as it's been acting kinda funny lately.
I will probably need help implementing a custom code playground using Sandpack, something akin to what @joshwcomeau@front-end.social described in this post https://www.joshwcomeau.com/react/next-level-playground/
Are you or do you know someone who's experienced with Sandpack and who might be available for hire sometime in the coming weeks? #lazyWeb
When developing for #a11y, performing manual testing with a screen reader (SR) is important to catch issues that can’t be caught by automated checkers.
I published an excerpt from #PracticalA11y on how to set up a SR testing environment on ur computer ✨

@aardrian iframes are what I'm using right now for this new chapter update but I want to maintain some consistency so I'll probably keep Codepen until I can replace all my demos + provide links to download.
Over on Bluesky, folks have suggested two options that look promising but I haven't tested either yet:
