@djl@mastodon.mit.edu @QasimRashid@mastodon.social Corporations should be required to invest at least 25% of the EBITDA in research, staffing or facility. No dividends should be paid that exceed the lowest prime lending rate in any jurisdiction where it carries on business. Any excess earnings over those amounts must be paid in bonuses to staff, not administration. No one in administration or the C-suite may be paid more than 10 times the lowest salaried employee.

@david_chisnall And a bonus! Having them on the rails would keep them off roads where cars are. No one else would be killed by the truck smashing into them from behind. Yay, trains.

@weit_im_westen@nrw.social not a criticism so much as a request. It is very helpful if a photographer gives a location for a landscape picture so those of us at home can travel vicariously.

@Geri@mastodon.online If Starmer had a modicum of decency & even a shadow of a spine, he would cancel the King’s trip to NaziLand. Sending any Royal, let alone the King, will be seen as abject grovelling to the Orange Stink (which it is, actually). From a crass political perspective cancelling would be a wise move. If the Orange Stink’s behaviour insults the monarchy, Starmer’s failure to cancel will alienate a lot of British voters. Standing up to the Orange Stink might get him some votes.

@intransitivelie@beige.party Some Nordic countries assess fines as a % of income. Corporate fines should be a % of annual gross (not net) income. They have too many ways to artificially turn massive income into a loss at tax time.

@gwynnion@mastodon.social I am not sure there will be “on-line” in 10 years. Maybe cave painting? If we are lucky, someone will be raising geese for the quills.

@fight FFS. Really. US politicians have no credibility. They are venal and corrupt. You cannot continue to be law-abiding in the face of lawlessness. A Frenchman was bewildered “how can protests without fires change anything? “ Day 2 of Putin invading Ukraine saw women, children, seniors making Molotovs. Protest signs do nothing. Be Ukrainian or you have given up. And you are fucked.

@heidilifeldman That seems like an impossible solution. How about Americans go with the violent option? I hope I am wrong but I don’t think you will get a an election, let alone a fair one, unless you take up the torches and pitchforks.

@KimSJ@mastodon.social @david_chisnall@infosec.exchange sorry, but I think that should read “fight”, not “pray”. Actions, not thoughts, are required.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social Sometimes called “cheque kiting”. Write a cheque on Bank A, payable to your business. Deposit in Bank B. Next day, before the cheque has cleared inter-bank processing, write a cheque on Bank B for a like amount, deposit it in Bank C. Repeat with a cheque from Bank C to Bank A. Make the shuffle longer, you may be able to withdraw cash or pay third parties with funds that don’t exist. When a Bank finally catches on, apologize and say you will look into it.
